Apparently absolutely true. One family would specialise in certain parts and others, other parts. I don’t know much more than that. But it’s very interesting!
Yeah that is how the Swiss did it for a long time. Into the mid 1900s if I am not mistaken. It is why some old Swiss movements has no branding or serial numbers.
