Look at the size of those TINY link screws! And you know what, there's one on each side, AND a pin! It's so hard not to scratch that lovely zaratsu polishing on the tiniest flat head screws in the world lol. Damn you Grand Seiko! But I also love you Grand Seiko for the amazing watch lol.

Its the one thing that bugs me about the brand, they really need to get up to speed with their bracelets.

100%. I did see they had a new innovation on a recent release, so maybe things will get better. It's odd they have found it so hard up to this point though, when I altered my San Martin in seconds the other day ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ Upside is I will feel like a bit of a hero when I put this back together! ๐ช๐ป๐
Yeahโฆ I feel you. Another reason I put mine on a leather strap. Never looked back since. ๐
Well, if anyone's interested, my lessons were: 1. Use plastic tweezers! 2. Have a magnet handy. 3. Have a loupe handy. And 4. Slow and steady wins the race ๐
Yup, definitely feel your pain...
I think GS will get to this in the 2030s... ๐
I think GS doesn't care much about its bracelets. It really is an afterthought for this brand.

Maybe they really want us to take them to the boutiques to get adjusted ๐ well, 1 hour later I have the last laugh! ๐
Their watches are amazing and the bracelet is comfortable but the screws and pins are ridiculous. And no micro adjustโฆ

You nailed it. They are so comfortable, when you finally get it sized right!
I did the same in a coffee lounge at an airport ๐. My friend brought me the GS from Tokyo, I flew there from Budapest, we met at the Barcelona airport, and I couldn't wait so I brought my tools ๐. Not an easy task!

Yikes! You're brave, especially knowing how small those screws are ๐คฃ people must have wondered what you were doing that was so intricate!

You can believe, I didn't give a damn about what people were thinking, I just had my first ever GS! ๐

Yeah fair point! ๐ซก
To change the link you only have to remove one screw, though.
Why do remove both of them? Remove one, turn the bracelet on its head (so the pin can fall out) and slightly wiggle the links and align them perfectly straight.
If done correctly the pin drops and you save yourself some hassle.

Yeah it's a fair point. I did try that the first time and nothing came out. So I youtubed it and that dude said to remove both. Didn't question it really, just assumed that's the issue I had as it worked straight away ๐คฃ

Of course it works that way since you can just push it through from either side, but it's also the most tedious ;)
Try it with one the next time and don't rush or force it. The pin will come out once the finely drilled links are aligned correctly ;)

Yeah good tip! I guess I assumed the youtube dude knew something I didn't lol! Never assume! Tedious is the right word ๐
Get yourself a tool. It will make things way easier

How does that even work?! I found that second one on Aliexpress but it doesn't show any pics with a watch ๐

Basically with one hand you place the first screw on the screw driver holder, press down the bracelet, then with your free hand you unscrew the opposite screw with a second screw driver...

Interesting! Thanks for the info!

Just sharing after trying to gheto way into removing those screws and failing spectacularly I decided to research a solution, which in retrospect is where I should have started in the first... One can't change a winning formula!

I have walked away from 3 GSs now because of the bracelet. If they sorted this out I think the world would open up for them. Iโm lusting after the Mistflake at the moment but holding on until they get it together, crossed fingers itโs 2024!

I hear ya. I would say though, it's a one time thing and once done they are very comfortable.

I struggle with bracelets for some reason, itโs a real Goldilocks thing, they are either too tight or too loose so an on the fly is needed for me. Why they canโt sus this out is beyond me though. Hopefully they come out with some stunning innovative way of doing it and we will all be happy!

I'm sure I saw in an ad that they have a new bracelet design coming out with on the fly adjustment, which would mean they can crush the competition ๐ to your point though, why take even this long? ๐ค

Oooo! I havenโt heard about that. Likely they will put onto a new model then they will have to burn through the stock.
I use plenty of thin tape to protect the polishing, a loupe and headtorch. So, so fiddly! But it's Grand Seiko, so I can forgive them anything ๐
