Time to part ways… Any pointers?

This will be my first time selling a “luxury” watch. I bought the Black bay Pro and Black bay fifty-eight with the intention of selling whichever one I ended up liking more. After the first 3 months, I really thought the pro would win, it’s such an incredible watch. But then one day I saw the BB 58 from a different perspective. More so that of a neo vintage Sub, even though it has gold on it, it has an underplayed muted nature to it. For some reason after that it became of of my favorite watches ever. So now I’m going to sell the pro. It’s a hard decision but I am at my budget for watches currently so I must pass it on to someone who will give it proper attention.

Any pointers? Just looking to move it, not to make any profit. I think I’ll try eBay to start.

Take good clear photos, detailed description, be honest and then put it on an auction, it will sell for what it's worth

If you out it on a buy it now you will no doubt get silly offers and chancers

So you like setting bids rather than buy it now’s? I certainly have a threshold I want to reach, so it seemed a bit risky to do that way.

If you put clear images, a good description with all the info required, age, service history, papers, etc so that people do not have to contact you it will sell well, you can list it as a buy it now but that usually attracts people trying to make offers or haggle, you can set a reserve price but be realistic and have a look around to see what they are actually selling for and not what people have listed for sale, there is a feature on ebay that let's you see sold items and how much they sold for.

You have a winner with the BB58. I feel like a day doesn’t go by where I don’t praise the bb58.

Best of luck selling it! Curious, what are you going to price it at?

I totally agree! The Black bay pro is a close tie though, such an epic watch.

I bought it for $3,250 from “the watch idiot” actually. You can find his YouTube videos and reviews of this exact watch which is pretty cool.

Still plenty of time left on the warranty card and the watch is in excellent condition with very few “desk scratches”.

I am going to price it around the same, $3250. Depending on the market and how much I just want to sell it, I may let it go for less.

This is very helpful, thank you for the tips 🙏

It really is such a great watch!

I listed my BBPro a month ago on Chrono and the offers I received were all between £2k - £2.3k.

I received 6 offers within 2 weeks. Hopefully that helps give you some kind of reference.

·

Be patient, it can take weeks or months to get a fair price.

Check out the competition.

Chrono24 has been pretty good from a support perspective for me. EBay feels a lot less personal when things go wrong. Chrono24 wants your business.

Be honest about any significant dings/scratches - don’t hide them in pics.

That’s great to know. It certainly is not a good time to be selling watches. I certainly don’t have to sell. So I will let it sit until either the market comes back up or I can get a somewhat fair price for it.

Good luck! I just listed my first watch and chose Chrono24 so we’ll see how it goes.

I guess we are both in the same boat!

I sold mine on eBay - no issues but make sure to only sell when they have 80 percent off fees or it will destroy you, I think I got about £2400 all in - I always sell with buy it now but allow offers, where about are you? I don’t know if anyone has sold a watch on a forum like this and then meeting up etc.

Thanks for the tips! I am in northern Colorado. I’d be happy to sell to a fellow watch cruncher but I am sure that’s a bit more tough to find the specific buyer

Ditto for me. I have a few that only get listed when the 80% offer is on.
