This is no Moonswatch

My friend gifted me one of the new Swatch “Neon To The Max” chronographs.

It’s inspired by a super collectible 1990s reference (the Grand Prix SCJ10.) It’s been beefed up, everything made even bolder and brighter - and (for a few £ extra) tech has even been added for those who like to use their watch to pay for things. It’s bioceramic of course (let’s see if it dyes my wrist neon!)

A couple of nice touches - the strap has a hobnail pattern on (and I can’t believe I’m drawing this comparison) which reminds me of the hobnail pattern on the classic Patek Calatrava. Also - even though it’s a 43mm it wears great on my 6.25 inch wrist - as the lugs are tiny and point straight downwards.

I really like the dial - there is real depth in the colours - like they are solid plastic rather than just a finish.

I don’t have a pic but the lume is super cool (nice and bright on the numbers, swatch and Swiss logo, and hand ends.)

As for the chrono function. Well - it’s just like the Moonswatch - and that’s a good thing. Three sub dials - one for running seconds, one of chrono units of seconds, one for chrono minutes. One button starts and stops, the other resets. When you reset the sub dials do a clockwise rotation back to zero - so it’s a nice show watching it all realign.

Coming off the back of owning a few Moonswatches - it’s nice to get back to something that is “pure swatch”. It won’t last forever - but it’s a great summer watch and a bit of fun.

Believe it’s already got a 3-4 week delay on new orders - so it’s clearly struck a chord with swatch fans.

I am almost certain that I bought Swatches for my daughters with colours like that back in the day. Since joining WC, my wife notices that I have altered some of my usual routines, we chat over morning coffees, she mentioned that she was looking through my closet to donate some clothes to the nearby mission found a carton of Swatches including a few Vivienne Westwood Orb iterations. Lool I was the only guy wearing suit and tie early one workday morning in a long queue outside the downtown mall waiting for a model dressed as a story book queen in a horse drawn carriage coming down Yonge street to deliver one Orb Swatch to her loyal subjects/ collectors. Of course we were allowed to buy at least two Swatches once the mall opened. That was fun marketing back in the day not like the chaos with the Moonswatch

It sure flies under the radar 😂

I never knew watches could reduce vehicle collisions with pedestrians.

Looks like a fine watch for summer
