Good or bad buy? 1950s Rolex Oyster 6480 for repair

I picked up this 1950s Rolex Oyster 6480 on eBay for £350 - and it’s on the way to me.

As you can see condition isn’t great and it’s missing the crown and stem.

Did I get a good price? Anyone got any experience of this reference or this type of repair?

I think if you decide it's not a fun project you could probably sell the case and movement and make a profit.

I would bet that if you get a stem and crown and wind it a bit it might fire up, but who knows. Take it to a watchmaker if you don't have the skills. It is worth getting fixed, if nothing else to resell it.

Yes I’ll take it to my usual one. It’s a bigger project than I’ve asked them to do before - but worth it I think.
