I think I prefer a brand buying an off-the-shelf movement to engrave it with their logo, than a brand cloning an existing movement to produce it cheaper and increase their profit by not paying for R&D, yet claiming it's "in-house" to raise the price. Basically homaging a movement. 😂
Marketing like that does bother me a bit, but as I've said before, I'm buying the watch, not the marketing. If the watch is worth the price for me, I can ignore the dumb stuff the company might say sometimes.
And Charge a shitload of money for that crap of watch 😂
To be fair, without Sellita/ETA movements used by third parties, there would be not much for us between around 800-2500(?)CHF. Exept the japanese I guess.
I really don't mind and am not influenced by any marketig BS. DYOR and if I like the watch as a package I will buy it, no matter what the marketing fairy tale story communicates to the public. At the end of the day where you draw the line of "purely" inhouse made, either the movement or the watch as whole?

Totally agree. That’s a reasonable price for watch with a Sellita movement. 5 figures aren’t.

„Swiss Made“ is all I can say to that 😌
Brands could make it easy for us, if they just tell us what base caliber they use.

Better than Tag trying to spin a Citizen eco-drive as "collaboration with LJP".
It's ironic watches made by the Seiko and Citizen groups have actual in house movements.

You talk about hublot and those other brands that want to sell a sellita movement for 5k CHF and up?
If so, then I agree 100%.
