For the longest time, I was enamored with the idea of having a collection spread across several manufacturers and locales. As of late though, I’ve really started to question my strategy and where I want to go with my collection, Ideally I will have roughly 10 watches. I actually live better in specified boundaries and that is why I’m contemplating going to a Seiko 5/ G Shock collection. I am not a modder and the idea of working up to higher brand clout (Longines/Oris) has waned. I live a pretty relaxed life where the 2 brands would work well within those confines. Sorry for the rant/ am I crazy? Feel free to let me know!

Haha, you sound pretty sane to me :) At least you now have a coherent strategy! I’d say: go for it. But don’t take it from me - I have no strategy at all, resulting in a vintage VC nestled besides a yellow Scurfa which is next to a Pagani which is rubbing shoulders with a Glashutte Original. Next to that is a Swatch :)
I’ve been thinking the same thing. Maybe have all my watches from Long Island Watches. Plenty of choices and I can learn to fix the movements myself. He’s got Japanese and Swiss and even an American quartz. 🌈
Personally I don't see any reason to deviat from what you like. No matter if that's 10 watches from 2 manufacturers or 10 watches from 10 manufacturers or even all 10 from the same.
Makes sense to me. The beautiful thing about collecting is that it's a personal journey.
Yes
Why force it?
Why 10?
Does brand matter? Does a mod matter?
I think the problem with a lot of people on here is that they have some preconceived notion of what a collection should be, or how to collect, or the notion of grails. What happens to just liking a watch you come across and just going with the flow? You all let this get in your heads, just let it go.
Did the "you do you" and "personal journey" comments above give you the affirmation that you seek? WC is, on purpose, a generally positive place, so there is very little risk of getting a dissenting view. (Even @Porthole's comment was mild.)
@FlatteryCamp made a comment today that really explained what these sort of conversations turn into when we give a full exposition of our opinions on what we think you should wear or collect.
I can't have an opinion on how many or what brands of watches you should own. Other than a debonnaire avatar picture and your protestations that you live "a pretty relaxed life" I have little background to work with.
If you are going to stick to ten don't buy a twelve slot watchbox. You will have shpilkes.
