Just ordered the Seiko SRPE53. Also ordered the jubilee bracelet, signed crowned and the AR-coated double-domed sapphire.
Getting ready for some modding fun. ๐

Looking forward to seeing the outcome.
Looking forward to the mod!!
Iโm going to try and use the same stem (as shown by Jody at JOMW) rather than sizing the new stem.
Right on! Take some progress pics! I always forget to do that when I mod/repair stuff.
Did the mod today.
It wasnโt as smooth as I had hoped.
The disassembly went fineโฆ
The crown replacement with a signed crown (using the original stem) went wellโฆ
But when replacing the crystal, at first it didnโt sit right, so I removed it again and it was still a bit lopsided so when I removed it again I heard that unnerving crack you usually hear when removing a crystal but I also heard a different, slightly lower crack.
I had cracked the chapter ring.
Donโt ask me how. I replaced/removed many crystals before this one and that never happened before.
Anyway, I reassembled the watch (with the crystal finally sitting flush) and immediately ordered another chapter ring although nobody would notice it but I know itโs there.
I know you all understand that. ๐
Itโs still a great looking watch and Iโm sure the reinstall of the chapter ring will be fine.
Iโll spare you the details of the reinstall of the chapter ring when it arrives. ๐คฃ
On a positive note, Jodyโs (from JOMW) shortcut of unscrewing the original crown from its stem and placing the new signed crown on the original stem, rather than sizing the new stem, worked like a charm. Just added a bit of Loctite 222 to secure it.
