My Take -Buying Modded Watches

My experience has been very positive with my purchases of mods. I have found a few places to get them that I am very comfortable with. The Positives- 1. The good part about them is they usually have a design that is either unique or mimics something very expensive that you might like but aren't currently willing or able to pay the big money for. They will disclose the specifications and generally speaking you get really great value. 2. They are usually very affordable. 3. I would also say a watch is a very personal possession and if you aren't hung up on every piece you own having a name brand this can be a great way to add what you like to your collection without spending crazy $. The Negatives 1. Probably no warranty, although there are some companies specialize in mods that do offer them. 2. There is some risk in how well it is made. I would recommend that you do your own research on the entity of who you are buying from. Reviews, amount sold, multiple media presence as well as longevity can be helpful in making a determination. I would also recommend 1st to just buy one and then if that works out great for you then it should be worth buying from them in the future. Depending on the site you are using to get them I probably would be careful ordering more than one or two at a time from the same place still in the future. For me I would definitely buy more mods in the future. 3. Often a mod is getting you the look like a homage - so stay away from an outright clone. At the very least it should not have the name of the the watch it is mimicing. Conclusion - Currently I am building some of my own mods for myself. Some watch collectors want nothing to do with them and consider them inferior. Honestly though my experience with it has been very positive and the watches that you may be able to find in this category can be pretty amazing. This is a little less traditional and possible controversial part of collecting but as I enjoy this Hobby I feel like this pushes the boundaries of innovation and enjoyment for me at least and helps make my collection reflect designs that fit my vibe that again are either simply not available anywhere else or would be well above what I can or will currently spend.
