Mystery watch

I can’t find any information on this estate sale find. Small elegant mens automatic gold watch with the brand Mike Bennett on the face. Anyone know something about where this brand was sold?

No idea mate but my knowledge is small at the moment. Looks very seiko 60s in design but never heard of the make sorry.

@aurelian is an absolute authority on old stuff here. Might be worth messaging him?

When he posted this I did a little bit of internet research and only found his question on WUS.  I suspect that it is a jewelry store brand.  The movement could tell us a little more.

I thought you would be ahead of the game!

I’ll open it up and take a look at the movement. It does seem like a Seiko looking dial and case that’s been rebranded for a designer.

It may never have great value but it should always be a great watch.

I noticed this Mike Bennett watch looks like an old Seiko Skyliner so I decided to go ahead and open it up to look at the movement - it’s a UT37. I’ve seen comments that UT was a Seiko subsidiary producing movements to sell to third party watch companies. Might be the same as a Seiko 7005 series? Not sure what this tells me about my watch but at least I learned something along the way.
