Is this the best SKX homage? (Don't Sleep on Heimdallr!)

If you can't tell by my username, I really enjoy collecting homages from AliExpress, Amazon, etc. It can definitely be a hit-or-miss affair with these "microbrands," if you can call them that.

Heimdallr seems to always fire on all cylinders, and this is the second watch I have purchased under the Heimdallr brand name. The first was a titanium SKX hybrid/homage (photo 3 in gallery).

That watch was great, but it could have used a scratch-resistant coating on the Ti to keep it looking pristine. It features an NH35 movement and has been running like a top.

This new Sharkey is a one-for-one SKX homage, fitted with the NH36 movement featuring a day/date window, and sporting a 5-link Jubi-style bracelet. It even came with a SIGNED WARRANTY CARD! When was the last time you saw that from a homage brand? Maybe San Martin, but not many others.

The bezel action is firm and crisp, yet smooth to operate. The dial is a nice blue sunburst and has some great light play.

Comparing this to my Steeldive SD1996 SKX homage (photo 4 in gallery), the dial on the Heimdallr has much more character and an overall better build quality.

All in all, I say its a worthy contender for carrying on the torch that was lit by the SKX nearly 30 years ago.

(last two photos in the gallery are Heimdallr titanium and then the Steeldive SD1996)

I have been thinking of getting the Heimdallr SKX, my first Heimdallr was a 62mas homage and it was brilliant, never thought I would move it on but loved it, I am guessing the Heimdallr SKX is everything Seiko should have done with a sapphire lens and ceramic bezel.

Any idea if the parts are SKX007 compatible?

No, I just received this today. I'm sure its possible, but I wouldn't take mine apart to find out.

I'm always on AliExpress and spending 150+ I think I rather go with a used mint or open box Seiko 5 and loose the 200m WR and Sapphire glass. I think homages are getting pricey.

No stress, brother. I was so close to getting a blue dial Seiko 5 Sports with black silicone strap on Amazon. It was fluctuating around $200-250 but I was not sure of Seiko’s QC from all the stuff I’ve read and seen lately. I’ve still got it saved in my Amazon wishlist and more than likely I will get one sooner than later.
