Kurono Tokyo 34mm "Calligra"

Going on sale Friday 23 for $1170

I really like the fact that they replaced the numerals of the previous iteration with Breguet numerals, these class up the watch a lot

The dark mop one looks stunning, however these being 34mm I'm wondering whether that's too small for me

Do you think this is is part of the design or are they unequivocally too small for people used to 37-41mm watches ?

That seems like a really good price. I love their designs. ❤

I'm wearing a 34mm watch on my 6.75" / 17.1mm wrist and it's fine with me. Smaller than that and I'd probably balk at the idea.

I think 34mm is probably not too bad for a watch of this style, but it’s definitely on the smaller side. I’ve a Baltic with Breguet numerals in 36mm and Tudor BB36, I think it’s all in the lug to lug and case thickness really! These new Calligras (just looked them up) have a lug to lug of 41mm, the BB36 and Baltic are both 44mm. I’d say this will look noticeably smaller. Not crazy about the typeface for the logo, though I may just be conditioned by sans serifs fonts being the standard these days.

You beat me to posting this! I definitely like them but I told myself I’d only get a Kurono if I LOVED them. Breguet markers is definitely way better but the dial colors are too simple for me. I could probably pull off 34mm since I have 6.25” wrists.

I agree, lug to lug, lug thickness and dial opening play a huge role have a 37mm GS which looks much bigger than my 38mm zelos swordfish field. Unfortunately the lugs on the calligeas look thin and small so I'm not expecting it to have a huge wrist presence, although the dial seems proportionnally big

Compared to other microbrand watches with a miyota 90s5 the price might seem high but it's clear Kurono Tokyo is not your typical microbrand and there is much more to their watches than their specs

Liked the earlier ones for sure over these. Though these are nice too

I agree about the dial colors for the white and black ones but imo the MOP introduces a lot more lightplay and intricacy

Gonna snap this one up in the MOP dial. I have the original Calligra in the dark mist and I love it. Also, have the HISUI in the jade green that I get compliments on all the time (wearing it now actually). Why not keep going... right?

I think I'd also be tempted by the mop if I could justify pre-ordering another piece less than a month after the previous one

I'd really like to own a kurono one day though !

I think I pre-ordered the HISUI in November - I am good with every three months.

The MOP one is hotttt

I think for you to feel comfortable with a 34mm dial you just need to start wearing it and you'll be fine.

... Unless your wrist are >8" then you're gonna make that watch look absolutely petit

I have the same two as well! Im not going to be able to stop myself from ordering next week. I'm going to struggle to decide between the MOP and Stark Black all week.

Agree 💯

At 37 to 39 I’d be in line to get one.

At 34 it’s too small in my eyes - and I’m a 15cm wrist

37mm below 👇
