I'm starting out in the area of modifying Seiko models. I would like tips on the subject and I would like to find the easiest models for me to learn how to use.

I would also like to know which models share parts with each other so that it becomes easier for me now that I am at the beginning of the modifications

I would start with the SKX, there's so many parts from which to start. You can't really go wrong.

There are so many modding parts available for NH35, NH34, NH36. These all share the same parts, with obvious exceptions. Your photo watch looks like an NH36 build. There are also many great YouTube video tutorials to get you started. AliExpress and EBay are good sources for parts and tools.

I think video tutorials will tell you what you need to know but often forget these two tips: you need good lighting, good magnification. Also, rodico putty isn’t just for cleanup, it’s a very helpful parts pickup tool that is sometimes better than tweezers.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing your mods/builds posted.

What he said… 😁 … also the fun of the modifications or builds is having an idea and searching for the parts you want and having the idea come to life!! Be careful it’s highly addicting !! Oh and frustrating at the same time 😁🤓🤣

I started with an SKX build. Namokimods sells parts and they clearly list what models it will fit! It's probably the most common and I enjoyed looking for those perfect parts!

I agree on the SKX. As a start I would buy an SKX clone on AliExpress and then start modding it. Places like Namokimods sell real nice stuff, but those are the ones I'd recommend for the 2nd or 3rd build.

I think we’re saying almost the same thing. When saying SKX as in SKX007, people are refering to using a 7S26 type movement. Seiko replaced this movement with the 4R36 aka NH36 around 2011, and no longer makes the 7S26 movement as far as I know. They have the same diameter, and the hand sizes are the same. I can’t say for certain that the day/date window is exact same place, but my money is on that it is. Movement height is within a half mm of each other. I’m guessing for the most part they are all interchangeable.

Too much of a beginner in #modding to give advice sorry
