Quartz watches deviation in one month...

Here a brief check of very different quartz watches, there are surprising results with very convenient Casio watches.

The first picture is the 12th May were we set up all the watches at the same time. The 2nd picture is 12th June were we can see the deviation. The reference watches are the atomic connected ones:

G-Shock "Gorillaz" (pink and light blue)

MTG-B2000 "Rainbow mountain"

GShock Mudmaster (green)

Junghans Mega1000

The Protrek in the second column below (black-silver)

Citizen Promaster Skyhawk (Green details in the dial)

All the previous models are exactly at the same second without any deviation.

In order of precision:

Certina DS Multi-8: Zero deviation in one month, really accurate!

The two G-Shock G Steel at the first row of the second box, only one second but if you keep them paired via Bluetooth it will be Zero.

The first Casio on the first row and colum, only two seconds of deviation for a 40€ watch, that offers also 200 water resistance and many functions.

Two seconds too for the Citizen with brown dial at the last row. Impressive accuracy and luminous performance for a affordable watch.

5 seconds for the blue Protrek on the last file (great value for its price) and five seconds too for the Orange Viceroy in the first row.

In the 6 seconds of monthly deviation we have the Casio "PacMan", the Tissot Lepine (pocket watch) and The Casio Edifice (corner lower right).

7 seconds of deviation for my old Lotus (surprisingly well)

In the 9 seconds we have two cool Casio vintages: the calculator watch and the solar powered "battery less" (corner lower left)

In 11 seconds the Telememo 100 I own since 1992 when I was just a kid. Impressive reliability for this old watch used as a kid, a teenager a man and now also by my kids!

12 seconds for the Seiko Titanium Chronograph.

21 one seconds for the vintage G-Shock AW-550 (pretty well for a 1992 watch)

The last one is my beloved yellow G-Lide with 34 seconds/month of deviation. It cold seem a lot but I think is acceptable for a world proof watch I use in the worst conditions, with many Motocross and bicycle crashes on it, but still working decently.

I cannot check the seconds on the Nixon "talking watch" but it's at the same minute...

What do you think? There are very reliable and accurate watches really affordable (Casio and Citizen) then very precise ones like Certina but in another level of price and the ones connected with the atomic hour are always on-time (if you have reception).

Even in the case of the"worst" quartz watch precision it would be a achievement for a mechanic one. But I think in that case another factors are in play than precision, the feeling the "mechanic  heart" the craftsmanship, the sound...

Interesting but not surprising at all. I have a small collection of vintage digital watches from the '70s and '80s, and some of them vary as much as a mechanical watch with an NH or a Miyota movement. How do you like your Nixon Dork Too? I just got my first Nixon watch yesterday, a ReRun, but I know next to nothing about Nixon watches.

Long-term test! 😜

Mate kudos to you for having the patients to set them all at the same time, must have taken ages 💯 I find it amusing to set all my autos to the same time agains't my computer to see how their running, but at times I wish I hadn't because I now know how poorly some of them run. Ignorance is bliss in this case 🤣

Awesome. Crazy how much more accurate my GS Spring drive is than quartz.

Hello. I see my Nixon in a shop and I find it very funny, with style of an old answering machine. It works fine and it's completely different to any other timepiece I own. I can charge it through USB but the battery consumption it's very low and I don't need to charge it in months.

Impressive G-Shock collection, I love them! You would have a lot of work to set all this watches at exactly the same time! 😅

Fortunately the six atomic radio controlled doesn't need any setup and the two G-Steel just Bluetooth pairing, but anyway still 16 watches to setup!

A collector’s got to do what a collector’s gotta do!! 😊🍻

Yes they are different technologies. The GS spring with an average accuracy of +-1 second/day is awesome for a mechanical watch! A masterpiece! For sure a good quartz will have advantage accuracy wise. I'll check at long term the Certina if after some months have any second of deviation, but for this I'll will have the answer in some months.

An interesting explanation why the GS is so good compared with other mechanical watches:

My GS spring drive is off less than a second a month. I have both a high accuracy model and the regular spring drive. Both are within a second per month. So the rating and the actual accuracy are a bit different :)

Good to know! Is better to have feedback from a current user than official specs than they change in positive or negatively. Maybe my next timepiece... Thanks and enjoy that masterpiece!
