Why Did I Buy Another Rectangular Bulova?
Since last November, I've been down a bit of a rectangular, art-deco watch rabbit hole. I've had a Rotary Cambridge, a Seiko "Tank", and another Bulova Sinatra model (and of course my great-grandfather's vintage Elgin).
The Cambridge is definitely a keeper, but that first Bulova (though gorgeous) was hard to bond with and has since moved on from my collection. Partly due to the near-dive-watch thickness of 13mm and overall bulky dimensions.
As for the Seiko, it's boxed up and awaiting shipment to a lucky eBay bidder as I write this, just because it's far too dressy for me. I don't mind wearing dressier watches if they have some versatility to be worn more casually, but the Seiko didn't quite fit that bill for me, due to the white dial, and Roman numerals.
The latest acquisition is yet another Bulova Sinatra My Way (98A261) but this one, I think, will be a perfect complementary piece to my Cambridge. It comes in at 29.5mm wide with 20mm lugs, and a slim 9.2mm thick thanks to the quartz movement. It also has a very nice piece of curved sapphire crystal, and a slightly more sartorially versatile, brushed black dial with sub-seconds (I'm a sucker for those). Still very much a dressy watch, but with that casual alter ego I was looking for.
It's been a revolving door, but I'm very happy with this pair repping rectangular watches in my collection.

Agreed! I bet if they had opted for a quartz movement for that one as well, they might have been able to shrink it to a sub-30mm case and around 10mm thick.

Love these My Way watches. My wife and I got the pair of black and white dial versions to share and have been really happy with them. Beyond being Sinatra and Bulova fans, the watches are great just standing on their own.
