Seiko Servicing

G'day all,

I have an SBBN035 and bought it in 2016. I have NEVER had it serviced and now the bezel is stuck :-(

I am taking that as a combat indicator to get something done :-)

What is a "ball park" figure for a service to a high ish end piece? I will get it done, but having a price in mind would help with funding etc.

I'm in Oz and have emailed 2 x service centres and am just waiting out.

Thanks.

Gav

Send it back to Seiko!

That's the plan.

Wonder if you might be better off taking it to a local independent (if you have one you trust?).

I want to get it done authorised. I don't want to have the hassle of dealing with a "backyard" operator if it goes pear shaped.

If anyone thinks it doesn't matter, or Seiko are just as bad to deal with then I am all ears.

Cheers

I wasn't thinking so much 'back yard'. I appreciate your desire to get it done by an AD though. I hope you get it sorted.

Oh I know, I was trying to differentiate between the two. Thanks for your interest.

You're welcome. I'm really lucky that there's a local guy for me that goes the extra mile regardless of what brand I bring in. I hope your Seiko is soon back to its former glory.

For that Youtube is your friend. with everything mechanical if it happens to one then it happens to a lot of them and others put up videos about the fix. Most just pry off but don't get it wet as the seals die around the 6 year mark.

Hmmm… yeah, I’ve seen this done on YouTube and if if it were mine, and it wasn’t a fancy marine master tuna can, for the first time, I certainly would give it a go. Judging by what’s involved, I can’t imagine it being particularly pricey, relative to the value of the watch. That said, it would be nice to know what’s reputable independent might ask so as to make an informed decision for when the AD comes back with a price. Good luck
