Short Panda/Seitona review

When this watch was released, social media went nuts with it ( they still are ). Yes, it was a photogenic watch, based on an recipe that had been successful for years ( Daytona ) and I could swear that it was overhyped. Untill I run into one of them....It was July 2022.

In August 2022, I think it was Saturday, my fiancee was waiting for me to wake up. She was excited because she wanted me to open a gift. Plot twist, it was an Orient bambino V2 (crème dial). She didn't even have the chance to say "good morning" and as soon as I saw her smiling, I started talking to her about my dreams. I kept watching this Seiko over and over again and the only way to be released from my torment was to buy it!!! Well, she said she had something for me that might helped. And yes, bambino really helped. But a couple of hours later, she grabbed my hand and literally dragged me to a jewellery shop to buy this Seiko too. Long story short, I bought it. And of course I am getting married to her soon.

Now let's move on to watch. It is simply amazing and versatile. Even though it is not my most expensive watch, it is by far my most complimented piece. 39mm, great lug to lug, every time that I wear it, it gives me the sense that they build it just for me. The dial is mesmerising and the weirdest part is that the bracelet is good too ( just good, not amazing ) !!! I know, this is the biggest plot twist of all... I have to admit that the idea of a solar quartz helped a lot easing my quartzophobia. I don't have many watches that I can't wait to see the effect time will have on them, but I really can't wait to see what this masterpiece will look like in a few decades. Great value for money, one of the best ( if not the best ) under 1000 €$£.

That is a great looking watch. I have been in love with panda dials for a little bit now, and a sucker for a plain white dial. Been waiting to get a Tudor chrono panda, a Hamilton intramatic auto, and Bulova lunar pilot. Now I have to put this in the mix. Thanks! 😡🤣

This has been on my list for a long time, although I keep switching between this and the later bigger one they released as my favourite 😊

I was so close on buying that too. For some reason, even though it seems more catchy on the first sight, it didn't make me feel the same way as the "original". So I did not buy it...yet

Looks better on a leather strap imo. I was not pleased with the bracelet it came with but that’s typical with most Seiko bracelets.

I actually purchased the strapcode bracelet and its a little better. But I just love this Hirsch strap. I have my seiko deployment clasp from my alpinist on it

If there was a gold with black dial I’d have pulled the trigger long ago. Fingers crossed for the future for me
