Baltic tax?

Has anyone ordered from the Baltic website and found and huge amount of tax added on? I couldn't tell if I was doing something wrong but a €600 watch had like €130 euros added on!

Edit: the extra charge seems to come off when you go all the way until you're about to pay. For anyone that is having similar issues, keep going!

Are you in the EU?

·

I am not. I figured it was an EU thing. Just didn't realize how high it was.

The company does not charge taxes depending where they are located but to where they are shipping. Your country does have its own regulations about import taxes for goods from the EU. Where do you live?

IIrc there is a limit of 800 Dollars, above which you’ll have to pay taxes. Shoot them a message and ask them about it.

Will do!

Here in Norway it’s always 25% taxes of the price you’re buying.

·

I took a look at Baltics homepage. If you look at the main menu you will have the total price including VAT. If you chose a watch to your basket and go to checkout the price will be presented without VAT. The VAT is added in a row further down. The total is the same as on the main menu. Is that the add on you was refering to?

·

Some companies use your IP address to determine if you're in the EU and therefore subject to VAT. If you use a VPN, they can't tell where you're from and therefore have to use your shipping address or billing address to determine whether taxes should be charged.

·

Baltic is based in France, so for every sale, there is a 20% value-added tax (VAT); however, if you reside outside the EU, that sum should be retroceded to you, that is, unless you are being charged (by your country) an import tax. Drop them an email, and they might be able to explain.

Oh that's interesting. When I go 99% of the way to go to pay for it, the extra charge isn't there anymore. Lol

That is just the normal way european companies manage their online stores. This way it is much easier to see what you‘ll have to pay. If I am ordering anything from the US I have to calculate everything myself. 19% taxes plus duties and fees.

If you are in the uk… you will have to pay up. Thanks Brexit 🤣

Seems like it might come off if you go all the way to putting in shipping and payment info. For me, it was only after all of this that it came off.

·

Also watch out for the shipping costs, even to the UK the price starts to climb very quickly if you’re not careful!

No, it is their import tax. So GB is collecting taxes from all products which enter GB from outside.

·

No tax charged. My order was on 09/23/23

Even more expensive to Buy Watch to 1000$ Even shipping is 50$ Then total is 1050$ + Tax addons 25% - 262.5$ extra.

Total 1312.5$ an example.
