Bronze watch

Hi guys, im looking for some recommendations for bronze watch. havent had any experience with bronze watches. currently eyeing either the Baltic aquascaphe or cw c63, the one with the sapphire glass.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with Baltic.  They just ooze retro cool, and the Aquascaphe has got a reliable Miyota movement in it.  All the focus and money goes into the finishing, and it shows.  They make really nice watches.

·

I will throw in the ring the ORIS Big Crown ProPilot Big Date Bronze. I like the applied hour markers and very high readability of the dial. In addition, the Ventile Cotton strap is extremely durable and super cool with its bronze folding clasp.

·

Looks like you're on the right track. A bronze watch should not be huge, due to weight, and 39mm is a good starting point.

In your position, I would go with the C63. The Baltic looks a bit too plain for a bronze diver.

Some other ones to consider are Oris Diver 65 and the Big Crown Pointer Date.

I would like to recommend Zelos (Mako/Swordfish) as well, but cannot do so in good faith, due to the sharp caseback, and bad weight distribution.

·

I'd go with something on the less expensive side (San Martin, Steeldive) for my first bronze watch. I have 4 now and love the natural patina, but it's an acquired taste and best to "test the waters" before going all in.

Believe it or not, ShopHQ has a Glycine bronze diver on sale for less than $300.

I think the price has gone up to $299, but it is still available.

I’m in the market for a bronze watch too. Look at these:

Laco Bronze Fleiger or Stowa might make one too

I also have two Steeldive bronze watches and pleased to bits with both of them. One is similar to the Seiko Captain Willard and the other is a generic Flieger. Both have the usual excellent specs of a Steeldive watch and are finished beautifully. Both are slowly developing some patina too.

It is worth experimenting with straps on bronze watches. I have the Captain Willard on a mid brown 'waffle' rubber strap and the Flieger on an olive green strap made from recycled plastic and seaweed (no, really).  The straps came from WatchGecko.

I own the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary Edition in bronze (see my profile pic) -- it is absolutely GORGEOUS. It is my everyday go-to watch.

·

Something I wanted to add on my post before, but forgot: There is not just "one" bronze out there. Different brands/makers use different alloy which can change the appearance drastically. You get quite yellow, light tones but also darker, more red tones. And everything in between. Me, I like the more subdued, darker tones hence the ORIS BC ProPilot.

Tudor bronze BB is cool

I own a Tudor Black Bay Bronze and I love it. I have a 7 inch wrist and it is 43mm but doesn’t feel oversized. I cross-shopped with a Black Bay 58 Bronze and the bigger dial had arabic numerals and felt more in the spirit of things.
One thing you should look into if you haven’t is the bronze composition. Tudor uses aluminum for their bronze instead of tin, so it corrodes slower, is stronger, and patinas beautifully

Love my bronze Zelos Mako 👍🏻

I recommend the CW C60, C63, or C65 Aquitaine.

CW makes great watches, and the bronze they use patinas, but not super fast.

These are my two. The Baltic is very nice if you love a bubble style crystal like I do. Just note the bronze in the Baltic patinas much faster than the one in the zelos (same bronze as ward I think). Also the Baltic bronze starts off much more gold coloured compared to the rose gold colour the zelos started at.

I own an Aquatico Bronze Seastar. It's not on the same level as an Iris, Tudor, etc. but it scratches my itch well. The patina has developed well and build is great.

When I picked mine up a couple of years ago it was only available with an NH35 but can now be had with an SW200. It's good enough that I've considered flipping mine for the upgraded movement for long-term ownership.

Aquatico also has some bronze pilots but that's not my bag. Hope this helps.

Depending on the movement these go for $399 to $599. The good news is right now they are running a 30% off for Father's Day.

super love all the inputs guys! Now I have a bigger headache. So many wonderful choices out there! Seems like oris and Tudor gets a lot of mention here.

I just bought this very watch and got it today! I immediately took it off the ugly green strap and put it on a Brown Horween strap. It’s f’n beautiful.

Hi,

it may be an Hommage, but i do appreciate the build quality of my San Martin SN047G. gives you a good impression, in particular if the real deal seams a bit pricy to start with.

I’m going back and forth between these two Tudor’s also. 7months later, any regrets or other thoughts?

I have no regrets about my Black Bay Bronze. I try to buy different case materials (bronze, steel, yellow gold, rose gold) and the Black Bay Bronze just seemed like the best example of a bronze watch. And I’ve learned now I avoid buying the bestselling watch of a brand, so my decision to get the BBB was in line with that

That’s great. I love the watch and next on my list I think. Meant if you had any regrets between the 43 heritage and the BB58 w/all bronze bracelet?

I think I’m leaning towards the larger one you got, but with the brown face (pre-owned) and the brown leather strap. Ppl had good things to say about the bronze bracelet tho, but think I’d want to swap it for leather anyways to be more casual

Ah I was considering the BB58 steel. I think the all bronze bracelet would’ve been too attention grabbing for my style. I have no problems with larger divers either. I think the 58 looked too small on my wrist

I believe the bronze Seiko aren't actual models you can but rather a mod made by a fan. Still a prety cool mod.
