Rolex Datejust, it's back from a rebuild...

In 1985 on my way to the HK airport to fly home after a 3 week business trip through out south east Asia, we stopped in a high-end watch store Artland Watch Co. HK, I know this because I still have the original box and paperwork and they are still in business today. My traveling companion and I were both a little drunk before the long flight to CA and decided to buy a couple Rolex's. We negotiated with the guy for at least an half hour after we picked out what we liked. We bought 3 watches between us, if I only knew then... I paid $1200 for this watch and I have vivid memories of the whole process, it was great fun. Too bad you can't do that with Rolex much any more.

I've had it tuned and crystal replace by Rolex a couple of times but this was a rebuild by this group in LA, Watch Buyers Group. They replaced a lot of parts and it needed it, this watch has been worn a lot over the last 40 years. Looks like new and I hope I can get another 40 out of it. That would make me 107, wish me luck. Oh ya, the rebuild cost more than the original purchase.

I sold the stainless steel version for $4500 which was bought for $510 to really jump start my collecting. I still kick myself for doing that.

Wow 40 years, well it deserves a little tlc and a spruce up. Treat yourself to a spar day day and give yourself a bit of tlc as well and I hope you and datajust have many more years together.
