Big and manly. I never liked field watches, but I see so many than now I want one. If I succumb, it will be a Hamilton, but I want an old high-beat one, or Quartz, not that Powermatic 80.
I used to collect Platinum fountain pens—all the 3776 model. They were all the same, only different colors and materials. I liked them. I only have one now (I still think it is the best writing pen for business, ever), but I really do not care if it is similar.
I do not care for the first two watches, but the last one with the grey dial and fauxtina is a stunner. I would wear that all day. Seiko’s real value prop is around $1,000 (give or take $500). I kept my Orient Ray 2 and sold the SKX. Chinese brands make better watches in that $150-$350 price point. Microbrands also make better products at the $300-$500 price point.
But at $700-$1200, Seiko rules with their SARX, SARD, SARA, SBDC, and the useless SPB (what does that signify?) model ranges. I just wore my SARX083 today, and my SBDC097 yesterday, and they are so good. I do not care that I have two Sumo’s (although I did sell a few other Sumo’s), because they feel good. Sell your SKX and SSK and buy that Willard.
