For the Sinn fans

I have been looking at the 856 and the 836 and still undecided.

856 40mm and Tegimented.

836 43mm and Satinished Tegimented.

Both are great the 856 more toolish looking and the 836 toolish but dressy too.

My wrist 193mm - 7.6 inches so both ok size wise - maybe 836 a little large ?

I have not tried either because sinn shop is not in my city so would need to travel.

I need to try both but interested in opinions. Thanks

Personally I prefer the 856 for the cleaner design and the dash of colour from the seconds hand.

·

That’s actually the 836 but thanks

·

Look at Damasko. The DK30 comes to mind.

·

I have the 856 with a 6.7” wrist. I think it fits me great. With your wrist size I’m sure you can pull off either one. Depends what you’re used to I guess. I’m used to bigger divers, so even a 42 feels fine for me.

Thanks but I prefer the Sinn

Your wrist size will likely better wear 856, and also 856 has Ar technology - while I *think* 836 does not?

I own two 856 models and I am seriously contemplating for a year now getting 836 for “dressier” occasions. So I get your problem here 😁

I still think this is the best chart I’ve came across. Personal preference comes into play but this is a great rule of thumb.

My personal preference is the 856. I think it looks proportionally better at 40mm. (Just my preference…) the Sinn 836 would look better with longer/wider hands. As is, 836 looks like a lot of wasted space with the narrower sword hands.

By the way, for those who don’t know, the 836 is the one with “automatik” on the dial.

These are two sinns I’ve not tried but I can show you the slightly smaller 28mm 556a on a 19cm wrist to give you an idea there is a lot of dial on this style of watch so the case size can be misleading they look a little bigger than you expect. I’ve just bought a 556i and waiting for it to arrive. I should have looked at one of these 🙄

The 556 is very nice- I actually did get to try one at a shop OS at Christmas but I felt it was too small for me - a lovely watch tho

I know what you mean there is a lot of empty space or minimalism.

Eventually I will get to try both and make a decision.

Yes it’s right on the limit of how small I can wear. I’ve got mostly dive watch’s and I wanted something I can wear with a shirt so I bought the 556i that I’m hoping will fit the bill for something less sporty than the rest of my collection

856 for me but that's based on my preference for Arabic numerals over stick indices.

If the 856 had the red second hand even better!

Both great watches though!

·

I think the digit- less one is a tad classier, more of a Gada. For the other one you could try out "the look" by getting yourself Berny's homage. It is a bit smaller, and at any rate you get yourself an affordable beater.

·

836 (left one): cleaner, red second hand, I also like 6 o'clock date. I think either 40 or 42mm are ok sizes.

·

The 836 with the numerals is a lot cooler to me, the automatik text is not my cup of tea to

·

That’s the 856 with the numbers - but thanks

·

I like the 836 with the slight pop of color from the seconds hand

·

You are in the same dilemma I was. Now let me complicate things a bit more. Look at the 936 😂

Or an 857🤓

856 all the way. Here's the 857 on a 6.7" wrist. You'll be fine wearing the 856, zero issues. But maybe the 857...... 🤷
