A 7pm May 3rd, 2024 gathering for watch geeks after the Windup Watch Fair ends for the first day on Friday evening.

Weather permitting we can gather at the rooftop bar...

or one of the cozier interior locations.

The Donatello is centrally located and 1.4 miles from the Gateway Pavillion where the Windup Watch Fair has relocated this year.

Hoping to have some trivia games and swag giveaways to go with the food and beverage options to add to the nerdy fun.

If you're a watchmaker or vendor wanting to hang out with, and present to, an enthusiastic WatchCrunch audience please feel free to reach out.

Those who recently attended the spectacular meetup hosted by @TheHoroSexual at the swanky Laguna Montage can vouch that though a venue may be upscale the vibe is very casual and welcoming to ALL. Bring a few watches to share with others or just relax over a cocktail and take in all the sights and sounds.

If your name just happens to be @Max and you're promoting a new product you know what to do! Get at us!

If you happen to own an Islander Watch you can wear it at WindUp, go by Marc's booth and ask for a $50 bill. Doing that early during the event would probably be wise. Buying me a cocktail is 100% optional!

Meet your host

Jack McClary

I prefer in person gatherings over social media dialog and have a soft spot for vintage watches.

It's fantastic that you're taking the initiative to organize a meetup in San Francisco—I'm sure it'll be an unforgettable night. Your enthusiasm is contagious, and the trivia game with swag giveaways is a brilliant idea. It adds a unique twist that’s both engaging and rewarding. This could definitely become a cherished tradition for WatchCrunch meetups, enhancing the community spirit and making each gathering even more special. Keep up the great work, Jack!

Kind words my friend! It's not quite W&W in Geneva but we did have a WC gathering at Windup SF previously that reached full capacity.

There may be an opportunity to carpool with others from SoCal as the event draws near. There is also lodging by Fisherman's Wharf (walking distance) that is still available for less than $100 per night.

I'm too lazy to drive to SF so I'm flying up Thursday evening the 2nd and flying back to LAX Sunday afternoon in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with my wife.

@artpordiaz sup we going!?

·

Dang it, another event I’m gonna miss out. This is the third or fourth one I’ve missed in the Bay Area—which means our local gatherings are on the regular roll! Thanks in large part to @Rome1234 and @artpordiaz for all they do! And all the enthusiasm from the local WC community! I have no doubt this event will carry on our awesome track record.

·

I'm in for sure! 🤝 Thanks so much for organizing the event, Jack! 🙏

That is GREAT news! Looking forward to new experiences!

I'm trying to hold off on buying another watch this year at least until Windup San Francisco. I've only bought one watch so far this year for $50 at the local Swap Meet though as many of you know the struggle is real.

If you own an Islander Watch and are attending Windup SF this year consider bringing it and watching Marc's recent video to score some walking around money.😉

·

@artpordiaz and I will be attending Friday so we should be able to make this pending our wives approving the extra overtime partying with watch folks! lol

Can't wait to see everyone! we're coming in from LAX at 6pm to SFO, so should be able to make it right about on time. Thanks for putting this together Jack, looking forward to meeting you...was bummed I missed the Laguna meetup.

@FlatteryCamp I think you spoke with Emily from Bob’s Watches at the SoCal on Thursday! I’m going to try to make it after the leica event. So many things happening 😆

Dueling meetups post-Wind Up. Hm...

More than dueling.

There are MANY after parties occurring each night after the watch fair ends for the day. Most are invite only.

I've been to as many as three in one night but this time I'm just choosing one for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening rather than Ubering from place to place at night with a bunch of watches. Have fun if you make it!
