I bought and sold this mint KS a few months back, kind of miss it- although I never, ever have a need to wear a dress watch.
Buying watches more intentionally to match how I use them has taken a bit of patience.

Exactly! I needed this like a hole in the head. It’s totally dress …..doesn’t have a screwdown crown it’s got a leather band. I don’t know what the hell I bought it for other than it was just a good looking piece. Fact of the matter is it really doesn’t suit my work and lifestyle because I need something that can take a little bit of the elements and a Regular soaking.
I get where you are coming from, as a watch nerd there are so many awesome pieces out there just begging to be let into the collection. The question we have to ask ourselves is: are we buying to fill up that slot, or because we know that piece will get worn?

Absolutely! Why do I (likely we) keep buying watches that just don’t suit our needs? I swim, fish or am on water almost every other day- rarely have a need to dress up. Something shiny just catches our eye and we go for it?

I buy watches a lot of the time just to try them out- often knowing before I buy them they won’t make the long haul. The danger is though, often they are that good they become keepers.
It is an impulse buy for many people. Moving away from that makes good sense. #seiko or otherwise!
The leather on that strap is amazing! Any idea what kind of leather it is?

Of course, it’s a black and gold ostrich strap from Artisan Straps here in Australia. I can highly recommend their quality, speed and service. Price point, especially on exotic leathers is very reasonable.
