Next stop - Breguet Marine?

Hello, my name's Julie and apparently I'm a Swatch group-aholic.

The sickness started in 1987 (bottom left) with the Lady Blue Horizon LF100 (not original strap). It accelerated with two further Swatch and Pop Swatch models (long since departed), before I made a concerted effort to wean myself off in approx. 1991 with the "Rolf Cremer" German fashion watch (top row, second from left).

This phase lasted until 2003, when I was given my Longines (bottom row, second from right), which kept me fulfilled on a daily basis until 2016, when, on a family holiday to Florida I bought a Swatch Irony (bottom, second left) as more of a beater watch.

I decided to replace this in 2022 with something with some water resistance - enter the Tissot Seastar (bottom, centre), the blue lume on which called to me from the depths of a local jeweller's window.

With 2023 being the year I'm lucky enough to have survived half a century, the only way to celebrate was to buy a Cartier or a Rolex, right?... Wrong. It seems the Swatch Group pulled me back in with the Seamaster Aquaterra 34mm (bottom right).

Honourable mentions to the Bliger grey dial (top left), a "size experiment", the Kronaby Carat hybrid smart watch (top, second left), my dad's discarded Citizen Eco-Drive (top middle), my husband's 1991 Tag Heuer Professional (top right).

I won't be getting any more watches for a while, but when I do I want to be more considered in my purchases. I have my eye on a Seiko Presage Cocktail time and a Farer Discovery Red for a pop of colour.

Obviously what's really missing, however is a Moonswatch...

I love idea the you know what you like and want. I never thought about it but my collection is 65% Swatch group 2 Tissots, 2 omegas, a GO and I’m looking for more. The have a Seastar great watch. Maybe I need to join your group. I am a swatch group-aholic. That’s the first step.

I am overwhelmed, speechless!! When I was still working the daily grind, getting and spending, knocking back bad coffees, some colleague that exhibited the qualities that you have extemporized with your brilliant watch journey was placed in that special category of some rare individual who was either taking really good drugs or needed to! It was the ultimate compliment. I would sit here a moment longer to reflect on your greatness( all sincerity) but the MRS wants my famous Saturday morning pancakes. Blancpain is Whitebread and while Brequet remains brilliant, a little old school. After all we do not live in vacuums.

Best

The problem is the more I look into this whole watch thing the more I discover other things I like and want! Come join the dark side...

It’s part of the sickness. My problem is instead of seeking help. I buy another watch.

I fear you may need an intervention - but you're probably in the wrong place for that

I'm not sure that one meets my strict legibility criteria, but thank you 😂

My wife is fully on board and has enough confidence to wear what she likes whether it be her MoonSwatch's or her marquee Swiss brands.

Frequent watch gatherings at interesting venues has been a big part of her finding enjoyment in the hobby and friendship in the community.

We even occasionally match our watches as we did during trips to the Space Shuttle Memorial, Disneyland and a fancy evening out.

Hobbies should be fun! Fortunately my wife and I still really enjoy each other's company despite this October marking 30 years since our first date.

There is nothing wrong with this, I fully endorse it. Happy trails.
