Just bought this JDM beauty. #seiko

Was looking through the bay when up popped this neat looking king quartz. Researched a bit about it, not much info. But the dial, that is what swept me. Look at the subtle texture on it 🫶 look at the perfectly aligned indices and marking, look at the quartz 🍆 stand proud. What else could you ask for? Snatched it for 98$ pre tax, invicta prices boom.

I was bidding for a vintage Seiko quartz last week. Some look fabulous!

Had that sucker on my watchlist. Glad it found a good home. Pretty watch!

Very nice! Seiko made some fantastic quartz watches in the 70's. They were very robust (over engineered really) and can be serviced and regulated to keep them running in tip top condition. That King Quartz would have been a pretty expensive watch when it was new. You got a crazy good bargain on it.

Seiko went the extra mile with the finishing on these watches, I 100% agree with you there. They really wanted their customers to appreciate that they were buying something special and cutting edge at the time.

I have several vintage Seiko quartz watches in my collection including a King Quartz with a 5856 movement like the one yours has. Mine has a really cool tatami pattern dial.

I will be receiving same-y watch in the future, sans day function.

That’s an incredible price for a King Quartz! I always find myself scrolling around that little corner of Chrono24 and always tempted in pulling the trigger on one, but the 70s quartz slot is already covered in my collection…
