10 eight

Have you folks noticed how most if not all of analog watches advertised display at the 10:10 10:08 position. Is that because it shows the watch dial better? Would

Only one of those watches is showing 10:08. 🤔

Personally, I don't really pay much attention although I think it might work better for marketing certain watch types... 😁

Looks like a smile. That's it. It's that simple 🤯

I think 2 of them are. Look again.

Good catch! This is a preferred way to advertise a watch. You see the Logo, dial text and most, if not all additional complications. Even the Cosmogograph Daytona allows you to see most of the functions on the dial. The Subliminal Message has the dial smiling at you . Smart Marketing

I figured as much. Thanks for the response.

The other reason for happy hands, besides those mentioned, is that they just need to set all watch photos to the same time as showing them together displaying different times registers as junk that don't work (see most SOTC posts).

It used to be a sharp 10:10, but apparently the disheveled look of being slightly off is preferred now because people are slobs that hate neatness and symmetry.

It's just Seiko misalignment issues spreading like a virus 😅

Do you think the Seiko is? At that viewing angle? I don't think so.

This is 100% correct. Studies have shown that people buy more watches when the hands are at 10 and 2 than when they are at 8 and 4. Because 8 and 4 looks like a frown and 10 and 2 looks like a smile.

Also, hands at 10 and 2 don't obscure the text on the dial or the date window no matter where it is positioned.

I asked a saleslady in a boutique that question. She told me that the hands would present the logo/name like hands holding something up in the air.

Like that maybe.

That’s creative, and I get why they said that.

Looks about right
