Rockin my new to me Zodiac SST36000

Today I’m wearing this really cool Zodiac with the 36,000bph movement. It’s pretty cool that it has the real hi-beat and that the date change is done by pressing the crown. I still haven’t opened it to find the serial number but I’m testing to see how accurate it is while wearing it. The cool thing about this one is I have the original box and papers.

If anyone knows more about this model, I’d love learn more about it. Also, if anyone knows whether the crystal can be buffed out or if it’s possible to source a new one.

I have a Sea Wolf that I bought in 1976 that has the same date change mechanism, so probably from that era.

Yeah, it’s from the 70s for sure but I haven’t been able to find the ref.

Crystal material?

Crystal material?

Well not sapphire for sure and it doesn’t feel like any type of plexiglass but I can’t confirm that. If I had to guess, I’d say mineral but again, not entirely sure.

If it's acrylic, use Polywatch. If mineral, diamond paste, although I think Polywatch makes a mineral polish in addition to their acrylic polish, but I haven't used it. Maybe someone who has used their mineral polish will chime in.

They’re becoming increasingly less common. It shares a case with the old Astrographics which have more but still limited availability

I want the gold variant
