Anyone else exited about the new Hamilton Khaki Expedition?

I just saw this new release by Hamilton and I freaking love it. Finally shorter lug to lug and a screw down crown. Not the biggest fan of the faux patina but the rest of the watch looks great.

Anyone else exited about these?

Edit: not my picture. Taken from hodinkee

It's a good look. I like that it's less busy than the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto I own. I don't understand compass bezels though. Not sure how often that's going to be useful to me.

Yes

Seiko land Tortoise tho. Double water resistance & half the price....

·

Yes, the only thing stopping me from khaki field was lug to lug length. But not really sure if I want to spend that much…

·

I like that they finally remedied my main gripe with the KFM by offering a 37mm with a reasonable lug to lug size, and the compass bezel is not a bad addition for this style of watch.

But the price tho... Ouch. The price bump of the whole khaki field line earlier this year was already unjustified, but double the price of the original is just silly. That's a nope from me Hamilton. 🙄

·

Imho a 12 hour bezel for tracking another time zone would be more useful than the compass.

I love the look, but I've had 4 Hamilton's in the past & got rid of them all because of that damned reflective crystal & poor legibility.

This could well be number 5, but I'll wait & pick one up used, £1000 is very optimistic considering the opposition.

it's a nice looking watch. Shorter lugs will please a lot, screw down crown is also a good thing. I'm not a fan of the compass bezel though, so I won't buy it. I would have prefered a Khaki with a coin-edged bezel instead.

First of all, finally shorter lug to lug 🎯 I liked the look and would like to try it. Unfortunately prices are rising too much.

·

I think it’s an awesome release! I just wish it didn’t have the faux patina on the lume. Hopefully they’ll release further colorways in the future that are more modern

Price wise it makes sense to me. Yes, it’s more than I’d like, but the whole industry is going up market. The murph has always been priced at 995 and it didn’t seem to be a big issue and I think this is an overall better watch than the murph

I’m jealous. Enjoy it man. I’ll get one soon enough

·

I'm looking at the white dial 37mm for a February purchase, paired with a Vario bund strap.

Not the biggest fan of Bundt straps but I think this watch would look great on one. Post pictures whenever you get it

Totally agree with the fauxtina. Imagine the black dial with all white contrasting 👌

I understand. I like the compass bezel even though I wouldn’t use it as much. The bezel does fit the purpose of the watch and you can still use it as a timing bezel if needed

I agree it would be cool but I’ll bet you 100 bucks that within two years (probably much less) they’ll release a gmt version

Yeah but with that reasoning you can’t justify any watch really because I could always just give you an example of a cheaper watch with the same functionality- you can just get a timex expedition quartz for 40 bucks and it has indiglo

·

Honestly at this price I was expecting it to be titanium. But as is I think it’s a bit too expensive

·

A very nice looking piece!!!

I understand people's objection to the increase in price but it's expected. The Murph released at the same price point and the titanium Khaki Field is 100 bucks more. Every brand is increasing prices. Even microbrands have adjusted some pricing, it's just not as much because their overhead is much lower. I suppose if our wages were consistently adjusted for inflation the markups wouldn't be an issue- but if you make enough to where buying watches regularly doesn't affect your finances, I think quibbling over a 300 dollar markup from a price that was established 10 years ago is quite drab

Teddy B. made a video about how you can use the compass bezel but I can see in his face he did not understand himself. 🧭😂😂😂😂😂

Yes, then he talked about how it could "save your life" ... if you say so, Teddy!

The new Murph is $1190 and this watch is $1330 on leather here in Canada. It’s almost double the price of what the Khaki Field Auto used to cost. I get the inflation markup and all but I just don’t think it’s worth what they’re asking for it. I really like the design though.

Hahaha he look at the sun (no sun at all because there was a bunch of very tall trees around him, then he made a 90 degree turn, then he got very lost 😹😹😹

It'll be more expensive than the Alpinist, and still out-specced by the Alpinist

Yes, if you don't perceive or value the difference in quality, cheaper makes more sense.

I can't say as I like the new look. I don't like those types of hands and while I find some fake patina nice, this doesn't appeal to me. I'll take my now old-style Khaki and be happy.
