It seems to have died. (It has a new battery) Is the best solution -take it to a watchmaker and see what they can do with the existing movement?
- get a replacement movement and fix it myself?
- keep it as a souvenir knowing it can’t work?

IMHO you should do the first option. A watchmaker could identify what is wrong and maybe fix it. He also could replace the movement if that is necessary.
Took it to a watch repairer. He said it was just the battery. So here’s hoping.
