Calling all Owners of Vostok! Is Meranom a good place for purchase?

I got my Amphibia before the conflict that has added scourge to our world theater. I have enjoyed it to the hilt and savor its bullet-proof facade, its dangling crown…and the prowess of ingenuity reflected in its 31 jewel movement with a 31 hour power reserve.

Image

I have been deliberating on getting a 2nd Vostok from the Land of the Brown Bear…as I have long been fascinated by the varying cultures of Eastern Europe.

Image

I visited a site called Meranom, which has for sale this stately but rugged-looking Komandirskie GMT. At about 100 bucks…it is a delicious puffed cheeto dangling on a fishing line just forward of my chompers.

Image

It looks like Meranom may be the place from which to buy this watch…but I am not familiar with it…as I bought my Amphibia through Amazon.

Will you share with me your experience with Meranom? Also…show us your Vostok(s) in your collection!

About how long is delivery time?

·

Around a week. Been a few years since I purchased from them, hopefully someone more current will come along and comment soon 👍🏻

Meranom is the Russian retail side for Vostok. Could be delays in shipping and with sanctions you might have trouble buying from the site depending on your location. Poljot24.com in Germany (Munich) carries a lot of Vostok and is great to purchase from; and if he does not have what you want, could probably source it if you contact him.

·

The answer to your question is yes.

But, with the current international situation, it could be a little different depending on your country. Might be a slight more delay than usual.

Got both my Vostoks from Meranom. Took a while to get to me. Snail mail i believe but they're pretty decent. Just not sure under the current situation.

Gotcha. Thanks for that tip!

Well…getting two from them with no issue is a great sign.

Awesome white dial and blue seconds hand!

I ordered from them before. Expect shipping delays, especially now. Mine took about four months for delivery and the tracking isn't the best.

·

I have been thinking of ordering at Meranom. But the delivery situation is really unclear and I wouldn't want to take a risk. So no, never ordered there and probably won't try.

However if you're looking for a reliable and trustworthy seller, order at Poljot24. It's a shop from Germany that ships worldwide and the owner is specialised on Russian and Chinese watches. He has experience since the 90's in the business and customer service is top notch.

I ordered multiple Chinese watches and watch straps from there. Can't say a single bad thing about this store. Vostok watches are a bit more expensive than directly from Meranom, but it's worth it. They are checked before sending to the customer and regulated if needed, and shipping is fast from Germany.

You are the 2nd to recommend this person…and it sounds like this may be a better way to go.

If you like Slavic culture and stuff, you can always buy used Soviet watches from sellers in Ukraine.

For me an 80s Vostok just hits different regardless.

Of late, I've been looking at second hand out of Poland.

Or Amazon.

Or the FL based seller.

·

Yes indeed I bought two in Meranom and one of my brothers did too and everything was fine.

I just bought one from Florida — $112.46 (free shipping) for the GMT with a blue dial! Damn fine! I’m psyched! Thanks for the tip. Meranom was wanting $103 before shipping which I have no idea how much shipping might have been.

·

I also bought my Amphibia off eBay, but sourced a bezel ring from Meranom without difficulty.

The package looked like it had some rough travels, but everything inside was fine. You might be better off ordering from another site. It's more expensive, but they probably have the watch on hand and can ship relatively quickly.

I ordered a Komandirskie, an Amphibia, a mesh bracelet, and a nylon strap. I heard about the shipping times so I got everything I wanted all at once.

Also if it helps any, I have seen some come up in r/watches, WUS, and eBay.

I use the app called WatchRecon when I'm hunting something specific.
