What would you choose

So I am about to embark on a fitness journey and finally drop a few pounds that have been with me for far to long, and whilst I cannot think of anything worse than a horrible smart watch pinging me work emails whilst out walking with the dog and family I would quite like something that counts steps at the very least, so does anyone have any suggestions on what should join the collection for this purpose? What would the watch crunch world choose?

I use my IPhone for counting steps. Then I can have whatever nice watch on the wrist.

Hi, I used to wear FitBits for many years and then Apple Watches before I started down the mechanical watch road. I can highly recommend the Apple Watch if a mechanical is out of the question, I’d say just be very selective with the notifications! Or for a cheaper and more simple one FitBits are a great option.

Was About to write this. Just use your iPhone.

I use a Fitbit Inspire and wear it on my non-watch wrist. It’s more like a bracelet.

I use a Garmin forerunner, great to track calories and time ,it's only worn when working out

If you are interested in a watch with built in pedometer, you can check out G-Shock GBD 800. I have one, and it is a cool piece for about 100$. There are multiple color options.

That's the sort of thing I was thinking, I don't like to take my phone with me, it's to distracting and I will just end up working if I do, I like to forget about the world when I go for a long walk, this one is a good shout thank you 🙏

You don't need a watch to exercise and physical activity on its own is the most useless strategy there is for weight loss. You simply can't outrun a bad diet.

And I'm saying this as someone who lost close to 30Kg when I decided that dying from diabetes was not something I wanted to do.

You can try importing one of the Wena 3 smart straps from Japan. Adds the functionality of a smartwatch to your normal watch by replacing your current strap. All the notifications are customizable and are able to be disabled entirely if you don't want to be constantly notified of your messages or emails. Comes in leather, rubber and as a bracelet with both the leather and bracelet options available in all black PVD. They even have a few that are made specifically for the speedy and the submariner. The only draw backs are that if you get the generic models, they are destined to only work with 22mm lugs out of the box which you'll need to purchase separate accessories to work with 20 or 18mm, as well as the setup needing to be done in Japanese but you can get through it using your phone and Google translate.

You can use a Fitbit without any notifications if you choose to. Leaving your phone behind would prevent this anyway as they rely on Bluetooth. Depending on the model, you can also track GPS data without needing a phone. I definitely think they are great tools to help track and motivate you, and they can be had for reasonable money.

Whatever you decide to wear, good luck on your weight loss journey 👍

Fitbit on the non-watch wrist. Otherwise I personally prefer the Garmin watches to an Apple Watch.

Good luck on your journey.
