It's a frustrating brand, to me. The weird sizes gatekeep a lot of potential customers from making a purchase. I know the larger dimensions on the fifty fathoms are so you can wear the watch over a scuba suit but why not something smaller for everyday wear?
I just bought this in the blueish-gray dial two days ago and I absolutely love it! The dimensions are perfect for wearing the entire day. I like the boxed sapphire crystal and find myself gliding over it with my finger or fidgeting with the dive bezel while I'm waiting for someone. I think now would be a good time for purchasing a watch since the market cooled off post lockdowns - I got a good discount at the dealer before even asking for it. Either way, I'm sure you will love it, and this comes from someone who is almost exclusively into dress watches!
I'm actually looking at the JLC Polaris Mariner Date right now. I don't have a true dive watch and the dial on this one is just stunning with the three different finishes and color fade from blue to black. The hint of orange is a nice touch that isn't too loud. The dimensions are surprisingly well proportioned for a dive watch; I was sure it would be too thick which was one of the reasons I've been hesitant to purchase one. One final selling point I like is the exclusivity that comes with it- You can see Submariners everywhere, great watch but overdone.
Are you able to see the texture of the dial or only in certain lighting conditions? I'm so close to buying it because I love the color and it seems to give off a blueish hue at certain angles
Thanks for this review! I randomly stumbled onto this watch on chrono24 and absolutely loved it. What held me back were the comments saying it was so hard to see the textured dial if the lighting conditions weren't optimal. It's a bummer bc it's such a beautiful looking watch.
