I know it's a very random question but there is a website selling some surprisingly good quality "apple leather" watch straps which are currently on sale. It got me thinking: is it possible to stockpile these straps(and regular leather straps) by keeping them sealed and in a cool place(therefore saving some money and keeping them when my current ones eventually conk out) or will they deteriorate regardless?
This account is verified. WatchCrunch has confirmed that this account is the authentic presence for this person or brand.
Unless you vacuum seal them, they will deteriorate.
I don't have an answer to your question but what straps are you looking at? I have been looking at the SEAQUAL by ZuluDiver and they contain some apple skin material & I am interested in trying an apple based product - thanks
Not so far, I've had many vegan alternatives to leather (veggie since '82) and don't treat them any different to my NATO's (except washing) & noticed no particularly fast deterioration.
They're chucked in a shoebox under the bed with lots of other straps.
Vegan? Is that the stuff my food eats?

Sorry for not replying (I didn't see it - my bad) I was looking at the "V-Stitch Vegan Italian Leather Watch Strap" by Watchgecko"

No problem - thanks for getting back to me. This is a great deal! Do you have one (or more) of these already? If so, do you find them stiff or flexible when new? - thanks

They seemed quite flexible(but not in a cheap way, similar feeling to some of the "Hamilton" straps)
