I think watch marketeers are realizing large diameter watches are not all customers want. Marketing pros understand customer requirements prioritization. Customers like me, average, think 42mm is not comfortable and movements are typically much smaller, leaving unused space inside watch cases. More expensive watches tend to be a little smaller 36-40mm and may add to smaller being more desirable. They certainly are more comfortable to wear.
Hmm good question. In searching is commonly known as an upside down Arabic dial. Yours is an outstanding example. Seems some traditionalists do not like it, but those with a sense of creativity very much like it.
