I Give up. I'm taking the pledge.

I'm taking the pledge. My Grail is out of my reach and even my MUCH cheaper runner up is still out of my reach. I have more watches than I know what to do with, or ever have time to wear. I want this watch, and I'm done. Case closed, no more. I want to collect something else for a while.......

I have two in brown. Love them. Want a blue one.

People who quit watch collecting are inspirations to us all.

Now. I can go slowly nuts trying to find just ONE watch, not half a dozen! :)

I have a pile of crap, a few cheap but cheerful reliables, and some antiques I'm afraid to wear too much for fear of breaking them. I'm never going to get my grail, or even the Doxa runner up. I'm tired of spending money on frustration and crap. Filling the void that can't be filled with junk, and a few lucky antiques. I found a model I really like. I have two in brown. My brain went "Now you need one in every color" and I'm just NO. No more money for crap. But I love this watch to bits and I want it in blue, I can happily hunt for it and maybe even find it, but I'm sick of month after month of barely being able to pay the bills for YET another watch. Seriously 45 is more than enough.

Have you considered the Accurist version, it's cheaper.

More flavours ("colourways") are available.

Its nothing like that, not even the hidden lugs. Compare it to mine. its the design and the color that make it special. I have two of these in brown. Its so early 70s it hurts. There is a 2022 reissue of the red one that is tempting me a bit. But I want the blue one. Going to take me a long time to find it. they only made them in 1972. Hopefully while they guy I can get to service it is still around. neither of us are spring chickens.

I haven't got mine anymore but I had a Vostok (labelled as "Wostok") with the same case as that. Absolutely identical but with a Vostok movement inside.

I'm surprised that Straton hasn't made a copy of it yet.

·

Considering they had no concept of intellectual property I'm not too shocked.

That's bloody expensive.

I found a pic of my old Wostok. It's not quite the same now I look at it again, but similar. I think there were a lot of similar ones in the 70s.

Part of why I want to find a good one and get it serviced. My first one is serviced but its so worn out its on borrowed time. It had been run and run and run till it froze up and died. My watchmaker got it serviced and going but pretty much said its pretty shot, hence why I have a nicer one with a lot less use on the way. Still want a blue one though.

The blue really pops on that case. And the search will make it even better when you find it. 👍

Those indices are making a strong case. I like!

Its what I wanted in a watch. A piece of the early 70's that was always right where I could see it.

I'm now doing my third (I think, there may have been ones earlier I don't remember) purge because I can't afford to own watches I don't wear in my regular rotation. I'm down to 7 but not for long, I already have others I'd like to have. I have a 12 watch watchbox which has been my limit but I've never actually had more than 11 at a time. I'm in better control of my buying than I've ever been and feeling really good about my collection as it is. (I just posted a SWC.)
