Review: Tissot PRX quartz 40mm blue

Well, after owning this for about a year it's time for a review.

This is the Tissot PRX Quartz in Blue. On my opinion it's the best integrated bracelet sports watch on the market.... At it's true market price.

The watch has a very handsome sunburst dark blue dial, silver hands and indices, a date window at 3 o'clock, and tones down dial text with the jus the brand name, 1853 and PRX and the itty bitty "Swiss Made". It's handsome, has some cool 1970s retro cool vibes and it just pleasant to wear and has the quartz set it and forget it charm.

100 meters of water resistance means I won't have to worry about hopping in a pool or getting splashed with this watch, even though it's "just" a push pull crown and a press on caseback.

The bracelet is, on my opinion, SHOCKINGLY good for the price point. It has a pretty substantial taper, extremely good articulation and nice finishing that plays in the light.

The only issue is the first link doesn't really articulate although it's does turn down pretty well so the "true" lug to lug of the watch is ~52mm.

The watch has a lot of wrist presence as it's bezel is pretty thin and the dial is large. The case also features flat surfaces that make up the 40mm dimension of the watch's width.

The watch is just over 10mm thick in quartz so it can easily hide under a shirt cuff.

If you don't like the bracelet, Tissot has you covered. The bracelet and the two official Tissot variant straps feature a great quick release springbar system.

The straps are embossed faux alligator calfskin or a neat textured rubber. The straps come in complementary colors to the dials.

Speaking of dials, Tissot gives you quite the selection in the 40mm quartz. Black, blue, a mint green, a dark green, white, and Champaign (in a PVD gold case). However, all dials have pretty.... Meh lume. It's there but just gets a participation trophy.

My example is pretty accurate, gaining less than 10 seconds a month. The movement can tick for up to 8 years on one battery and has an EoL function.

Overall, for the prices you can get them on Joma, eBay and the Grey market they're absolute winners.

If you think the 40mm may be too big, Tissot happily offers a 35mm version (I'll probably get one on white)

I have the 40mm ice blue Powermatic and I just love the bling, especially in the sun. The bracelet just sparkles! ✨

Nice review. I have the white lume dial and bought the metal bracelet. I can’t stop wearing it. Comfortable and classy at an affordable price ($260 new). I love the CW Twelve and might get one someday, but I love the width of this bracelet better and the price can’t be beat.

I’ve had two Quartz myself and looked at countless others. NONE hit the indices. Not a single one.

Yours would be the first. Otherwise I can’t explain not having this fact listed under negative.

Mine hits the indices about 70% of the time.

Some of my quartz watches hit every time, some don't.

Curious that this isn't listed under negatives when I pay upwards of 300 quid for a "Swiss Made" watch. But yeah: I have an ultimate gripe against the PRX (and Tissot in general) given my "backstory with this model and company.

I have the green dial 35mm and agree with this review. The quartz variant really hits hard for its price point

Unless the seconds hand setting is done by a robot, or a watchmaker sits with it for a while, the hands will probably miss at least part of the time. I'll send a watch back if it misses 50% or more of the time.

Not a single person will handle that PRX by hand. Citizen watches are also not touched by organic cells coming from a human until packaging. (before confusion arises: This is an exaggeration)

One of these two products hits the markers, the other doesn't. I think there are some other forces at work...
