I've been leaning into late 60s/early 70s chronographs due to the generally smaller sizing and more interesting dial layouts. Even my modern chronos have a vintage...er...retro...uh..."heritage" look to them. I guess I have a type ;)

My one and only chrono: Zenith A384 - 50th Anniversary Edition.

I love my 1963 panda.

My Speedmaster 60th anniversary. It’s a recreation of the first speedmaster, it wears small, wears almost dressy with a leather strap and sporty with the bracelet, love it.

The Avi Big-Eye is my favourite:

But I also like these two 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵.

I saw this was released, my favourite Sinn chronograph since the 60th anniversary classic 12. Congrats, nice looking watch.

They’re all amazing! Curious about how you view Montblanc? Would you rank them alongside Tag? The third pic — it has a gold or champagne dial and seems to be a monopusher — really caught my eye. The subregisters overlapping the center scale is perfect design imo.

Great question Rich...the regular Montblanc chronographs are in the same tier as TAG Heuer. But the Montblanc Minerva chronographs are in the same tier as Patek - they just don't cost as much where you pay a steep premium for the Patek name.

The Lime Gold chronograph is full 18k gold and is a monopusher but it is also a split-second (rattrapante) chronograph...all hand made and hand finished...100% produced in Switzerland at the Minerva atelier in Villeret...only 18 watches produced for that reference. One of the highest level of watch complications.

So, to summarize...

Montblanc Minerva = Patek

Montblanc (non-Minerva) = TAG Heuer

Let me breath for a moment!

Amazing collection.

You could open a shop!

Thanks for the kind words.

My wife would probably like me to open a shop and stop buying more watches 😉

Thank you Mel, for taking the time to respond so thoughtfully.

Supremely impressive

Many thanks!

Thanks for the photos.

They all look to be in outstanding condition and those movements … they're frickin' gorgeous.

You have an outstanding collection.

✌🏼️

Thanks! Appreciate the kind words.

I try very hard to purchase top notch condition - not always possible but aspirational.

For example, just picked up a Waltham Type A-17 Milspec field watch used in the Korean War in the 1950s...near impossible to find a military watch used in the field of battle that survived in pristine condition...this one really gets close...all original parts and fully working condition...purchased from a dealer who sold this on behalf of its original owner...

That's very special, a little piece of history.

A great find, congrats.

Your collection is exceptional. You should be proud 'cause that doesn't just happen. I particularly like how you've chosen watches beyond the typical vintage steel Rolex sport (great watches and beautiful - nothing at all wrong with collecting them). It's great to see a significant collection that's a little more off the path.

This platform's been feeling a repetitive of late. I'm glad to have stumbled into you and this thread.

Among all my chronographs, the Daytona stands out as my go-to choice. I'm decidedly a Daytona enthusiast, favoring its style and functionality above the rest.

Awesome collection of chronos Paul!

Mel, your Minerva Chrono is a standout piece, a true embodiment of the exceptional craftsmanship from the Minerva Atelier in Villeret. It’s a brand that merits more recognition, especially given the intensive labor of hundreds of watchmaker hours poured into each watch. The value Minerva offers, particularly in the secondary market, is remarkably high, making it a wise choice for discerning collectors like yourself! Cheers, my friend.

Really nice combination.

Thank you! 🔥🍻🤙

I am still looking for one…any suggestion? Microbrand or not but prefer an automatic movement
