commented on Are you planning to place an order Dec 9th 1pm EST to get the latest model from Kurono Tokyo? With the "koji" font, it is the most "Japanese looking" design so far, and I like it a lot. Best of luck to anyone who'd love to get it! ·

I like this one a lot!  and love the 37mm size.  But I have a hard time with a Miyota 9000 series for this price point.  We'll see them for resale on the forums for $2500-$3500.

Very cool.  Rolex should make more use of "Rolex green" like this!  I know they have the Wimbledon with green roman numerals; and the 2020 OP with green dials; and of course the kermit/hulks subs.  More please!

For my friends who are not deep in the watchzone, but just want one really good solid watch...I say depending on style preference either the Tudor BB (36/41) or the Tudor 1926 (36/39/41).  From a brand with real heritage, 100/150m WR, thin, under $2k, can wear them anywhere and they are actually available.

Agree-given the current state of Rolex (=unbuyable for most of us except at 2-3x mark-up from grays)...we all need to be thinking about other brand options.  Zenith for sure...and I also think this is an opportunity for us to all revisit IWC.  Heritage, quality, 8 year warranty. and they are available, not just dummy display models.  For around $5k (same list as an OP) how about the 40mm blue Petit Prince on a bracelet or this 40mm Ingenieur instead:

These were produced between 1995-2000 when it was replaced by the better known SBGF021.  But i like the faceted bezel and sharper handset on the earlier 001 better.

Great write-up.  I had one of these with the black dial and loved it.  It's thinness was esp. fantastic. Eventually sold it because I felt it was a bit too big for my 6.5" wrist, but totally agree with you, this one is a sleeper.  Fantastic watch and can be had for under $2k.
