Watch Out! My Three Favorite quartz Time-Keepers!

Let me introduce you to my three trusty quartz companions: Bulova Lunar Pilot, the Timex Q, and the Tag Heuer Formula 1. Each watch brings its own flavor of history, nostalgia, and speed to my wrist, and trust me, they've got personalities!

1. Bulova Lunar Pilot: To the Moon and Back (Almost)

The Bulova Lunar Pilot is like that friend who's always reminiscing about that one wild trip they took – in this case, it's almost a trip to the moon! Back in 1971, this watch went on a lunar joyride with astronaut Dave Scott during NASA's Apollo 15 mission. Today's Lunar Pilot pays homage to that mission with a design that screams "space age."

This watch is precise, just like that friend who insists on splitting the bill to the penny. It's got a snazzy chronograph for timing my epic pizza-eating contests, and a stainless steel case and comfy leather strap for all my intergalactic adventures. The Bulova Lunar Pilot is the life of the party, and it's always ready to time the next round of moonwalks (or dance-offs) in style.

2. Timex Q: The Groovy Time Machine

The Timex Q is the watch equivalent of a time-traveling DeLorean. It whisks me straight back to the 1970s, complete with funky disco beats and bell-bottom jeans. That "Q" in its name? It's a callback to the "Quartz Crisis" that shook up the watch world back then.

This watch is super reliable, just like that buddy who's always there for a couch-moving party. With its quartz movement and chronograph, it's like my wingman for timing how long it takes me to decide on takeout options. The stainless steel case is robust, and the bracelet is just as cool as a vintage vinyl record. The Timex Q keeps me grooving in style, whether I'm dancing to the Bee Gees or battling with stubborn jar lids.

3. Tag Heuer Formula 1: The Speed Demon

Tag Heuer's Formula 1 collection is the speed demon of my watch gang. It's like that friend who's always revving their engine, ready for a wild ride. These watches are all about capturing the thrill of the racetrack and looking sleek while doing it.

The Tag Heuer Formula 1 is so precise; it's like the friend who can calculate the tip at a restaurant in seconds. Its quartz movement and chronograph are my go-to for timing how fast I can finish my morning coffee. The bold colors and dynamic design are like wearing a racing flag on my wrist, and this watch is always up for an adventure, whether I'm racing to catch a train or just sprinting to catch a sale.

Conclusion

These watches aren't just timekeepers; they're like my hilarious, stylish, and occasionally wild friends. Always ready for an adventure, and they never miss a beat – unless, of course, I'm timing them with their own chronographs!

A Dan Henry 1964 graces my collection…meca quartz Chrono…vintage looks and dimensions with modern guts.

My 3 quartz collection would be:

Casio Edifice EFV-100d

The CWC GS Sapphire Black

Timex Expedition

They all have great character and are super versatile. The CWC is one of my most worn watches just owing to how light and practical it is!

This past July I had to get my Speedy and my 1918 Elgin serviced. After recovering from that @$$ whipping my last 5 acquisitions have all been quartz and I love each one of them.

As someone who has 23 quartz watches, this is going to be difficult, but here goes.

  1. Tissot Everytime Large. This watch intrigues me because of its silvery minimalist beauty combined with its totally erratic second hand. So much so that I had to write a whole story about it here on WatchCrunch called "My Conversation with Mademoiselle Tissot."

  2. Seiko SGEH49P2. Looks like a bigger bolder version of the SARB 033, but with wonderful 7N42 quartz movement, elegant black dial, 100m of water resistance, and sapphire, all for $95.

  3. Bulova 96A164. This is part of Bulova's Frank LLoyd Wright Collection. You don't see this watch very often. Maybe because it's not a spec monster? But it has an absolutely gorgeous and unique dial.
