I think you can find meaningful improvements for your money so rapidly under 1k, maybe even under 2k, that you could call the whole thing a sweet spot depending on what kinds of things you focus on and how much you want to spend. It's like trying to pin down the price sweet spot for a dinner. The value sweet spot for pizza is going to be different from the sweet spot for steak. Just have to decide if you want pizza or steak, or if you want a cheap or expensive meal. Too much preference involved to lump all food, or watches, together in one category.
While there is definitely a dollar per ounce watches that offer great value under $500 (Helm, Hemel, Islander, Imperial, Erebus, Lorier, etc), under $1K is where you start to see some pretty cool QOL upgrades.
Whether that's regulation, complication, finishing, material, or a combo of all.
Case in point Nodus, Elliot Brown, even Marathon (SSNAV and SSNAV-D), etc.
However, I'd also agree with @Balanced, or maybe add under $2,500US. This would be Formex, Monta and others territory.
With strong outliers in Resco and Sangin on the tactical tool end.

“Your usual pedantry”… Ha! Made me utter a little whuff of laughter! I thought I was the only self-conscious pedant in these here parts. Glad to know that I’m not alone.
Personally I find the most value under $2000. The very borderline of Swiss luxury. But there is so much value under $1000 and under $500 and even over $50000. It depends on what you value
I voted “under $200” but could push it to $250 or $300 if it was a REALLY special watch! Otherwise $200 is the psychological limit of what I can put on my wrist so I’m can keep track of the time!

Under $5000.00
Under $5000.00
Yeah there's a limit of 4 in polls. I would have added more.
To dive into my usual pedantry:

I'd say under $1KUS for this poll.

For me it's £3-4000 new, £1000-2500 used.
Rarely look at the less pricey stuff tbh, it's just where I'm at after many years in the hobby.
Love all watches, just my sweet spot is a little higher than the survey options.
I'm not a snob, just older and have a higher disposable income because of that.

Maybe alter the monetary values? You’ve presented a very limited range. 🙂

Goes for lots of us, I reckon.

There's no edit option. I guess they don't allow it for polls.

Absolutely, there's a fair few of us that've been into watches for long enough to want to upgrade
Cheers mate 👍🏻
For me, personally, $600-$1800 is my sweet spot for quality and affordability

The sweet is what you can afford that won’t financially burden a person.
For me its under 300, all over that is to expensive for me 😂
