Today it's more excavating from the watchboxes...a vintage 1970s Festina Chronographe "Rainbow" running the manual Valjoux 7734...a number of these "Rainbow" chronographs were produced under different brands names such as Golana, Lancia and Le Jour...

WOW!

Thanks!

Here are a couple more in the collection...I have to time when I wear them as it's a pain to reset the date on any of the vintage Valjoux 7734 movements as you have to do the two full turns for every day to advance the date...

Impressive collection 💯

Festina made some really cool watches back them.

Amazing!

Very impressive piece!

Such an attractive dial from seconds layout to bright colours, above and beyond typical racing watches.

What a power house they used to be, what happened to them?

Did they blow all their money on marketing in road cycling?

I love how you collect Mel!👌

Thanks Raymond!

I think the 1970s happened to them 😀

Then they found they could make a lot of money selling quartz-based watches and that really became their bread and butter.

Festina is actually a really successful global brand and they also own the movement maker Soprod. So they do still produce some quite fine mechanical movements.
