I have quite a few leather straps that I wear often and none have ever developed a noticeable funk factor.

I’ve never met a person who had this issue but it seems to pop up on WC.

I think the rotation factor is huge and why we're largely unaffected. I'm surprised that there was nothing about putting them in the freezer to kill bacteria.

Wow, that’s the way we’re doing with our jeans and I never thought it can be applied to watch strap. That’s brilliant idea 💡

Never had this problem. I guess rotation and switching straps helps. And I'm not afraid to bin them if they start looking worn.

I have no idea where I heard it, but it's not my idea.

TBH some denim heads recommend this (freezer) or non sanforized selvedge denim, but I wash my stuff, jeans, jackets, boots, straps, whatever. To "preserve" the color, and "authentic wear patterns".

Went most of 2 months with the same pair of combat pants, and no way to wash them. Used to hold contests with platoon I supported to see if I could jump into them a cot, since they stood up on their own....🫣🤫🤪🤐

I'll rock selvedge, leather, etc, but if it gets dirty, I'm washing it 😂.

Could care less about "authentic" wear patterns. And my wife would kill me if I left bleeding blue dye allover the house. 🤪

Cobbler's Choice, owned by Thursday Boots i believe, make a good, natural cleaner and conditioner FYI.

If it works on my chromexcel, it'll work for a strap.

I never had this happen to my watches, but sometimes when buying used watches from eBay or elsewhere they come on straps sooo filthy it’s unbelievably disgusting. How are these people not ashamed to be sending you their grime and hair and what not🤮.

If it happens I just cut whatever band right of and throw it out.
