Do you love tropic rubber strap? And where to find short length Tropic rubber straps?

I’m a leather watch strap maker and seller, but I like steel bracelets best. Rubber (fkm) straps are my second favorite, especially the tropic straps. Leather straps come third for me.

Just one issue is, most tropic straps on the market are too long even for my 18.5cm wrist. They measure 120mm - 80mm, which is way too much. 🥲🥲🥲

I have a small 5.5 in. wrist and have Tropic brand straps. They fit me! They are a little expensive, but I found good deals on eBay.

Only ever tried the generic black tropic strap and a few other silicone ones from Amazon. Not really a fan. Unless I’m missing something due to what I’ve bought being low quality.

Like for leather, you do often get what you pay for. I just don’t see that being the case for rubber, but I could be mistaken.

With my experience the fkm materials bring the most comfortable feel on wrist and also it’s not dust sticky like silicon one, you can easily find on Amz or AliExpress around $20 or something higher price imo just better finish like no swarf or better buckle/clasp only, but they’re just too long 😬😬😬

Agreed with you that with handmade leather straps, price heavily depends on materials and craftman’s skill 😬

I’m a bit annoyed that the manufacturer of the original tropic strap won’t produce a shorter variant. Almost everyone has complained of the length. I have an FKM tropic style strap that is shorter, but the quick release spring bars are of low quality. I don’t trust putting it on my black bay 54

You can take it off and replace by normal spring bars, it’s easy

I brought this up a few weeks ago with another strap maker. They were asking crunchers for ideas.

I’m sure someone sells/makes them but I haven’t found them yet.

I used to plan sell fkm strap and ask this question to manufacturers in China and they can make custom mold but it will cost alot also the minimum order need to be from 300pcs for each variations.

It’s a huge investment for me at this moment 🤣🤣🤣

It’s true with tropic-style, too. You get what you pay for. The cheaper the strap, the cheaper the material probably is. You may have got a cheap FKM and not vulcanized rubber. I ordered one from Amazon a few years ago, only because it was a certain color I was looking for. I sent it right back. It felt and looked terrible compared to my real Tropic.

I have a black one I love, so I ordered an orange one from the same shop. Don't like the orange one, it's a lot stiffer and not as comfortable to wear.

·

I’ve purchased a few and tried them but found them uncomfortable.

I've ordered a short for a 19mm width for my Aquastar Deepstar 2 - which ive worn on a NOS 19mm Tropic Sport and a NOS model 1691 tropic style strap - both are from the 1970's and are approximately 65mm x 115mm and also come in 20mm widths as well.

Currently looking for NOS 19mm "Tropic Star" in black .
