Tudor Pelagos LHD order

Last Spring I decided to pull the trigger on a Tudor Pelagos LHD. After weeks of searching I found a company called ROX (Diamonds & Thrills) who were willing to take my order. The price quoted was £3640 and I was told to expect delivery in October. Nothing arrived by Christmas so I emailed them this week. Their reply said that I'm still second in the queue; Oh and by the way, the price has now gone up to £4120.

This is my first luxury watch purchase which has now been soured by this 13% increase that they expect me to pay. Am I being unreasonable expecting ROX to honour our original agreement, or is this just the way things are with watches on waiting lists?

I guess that's full retail price (I had no idea they were that much).  Seems like you have options on watch recon or chrono24 for a lot less.

I'm far from a legal expert, but do you have a written agreement for the 3640?

This is just the way things are with watches on waiting lists. You can ask for a discount or a free strap but don't expect it.

Yes, they emailed me an invoice quoting the original price. I'm no legal expert either and I'm sure there's some consumer law that protects customers in these circumstances - it never crossed my mind that ROX would hike the price in this way...

It sucks but the way I see it, it's like getting a quote from a mechanic for your car or a contractor for a home remodel, it's subject to change

Given that they ordered it for you they are subject to the same issues you are.  It isn’t great but if they are willing to refund you in full if you choose to back out then there isn’t much you can do to get them to honor the original price.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've decided to suck it up and continue with the order (possible delivery in February... although ROX don't specify which year). I must say though that the significant price increase has tainted my overall experience of buying a luxury watch. Once it's finally delivered I'm going to look at it long and hard before deciding whether it's a keeper ... or maybe I'll just sell it on...
