Straps, glorious straps!

Today is going to be glorious, the sun is shining brightly, and it really looks like of of these days where the Almighty did everything right when he decided that the sun should rise from the East and the sky should be blue, and that there should be plenty of stupid little bird chirping mindlessly in the background.

I even managed to squeeze another hour of sleep, as the furry many legged little parasite, aka SmallCat™, decided that he will spend the morning soaking up on sunshine instead of nibbling on my toes.

And that left me some time to decide that at least half of what makes the Casio AE-1200 so likeable for me is not the (excellent) SKXMOD kit, but the red oiled leather strap from Vario.

The oiled leather finish of this strap is spot on and the color is complementing the black and gold case without clashing with it. It's a strap that was custom designed by Vario for the AE-1200 and the fit is truly excellent. I was a bit worried at first that it might not fit the steel case of the SKXMOD kit, but even flipping the watch over shows that the strap match the case very well.

And it's a pleasure to wear. The original strap of the AE-1200 is made from the traditional "resin", or in other words cheap plastic, that Casio is so fond of using. It does the job but it's also very annoying on my wrist. The SKXMOD kit came with a bracelet which I'm sure is a very good fit to the case and will please any bracelet lover, but I'm more of a leather strap guy.

And for leather straps guys owning an AE-1200, Vario straps are probably the best option there is.
