It's never too late

Well today I got the confirmation that I'm (a) lazy and (b) lack attention to a pathological level. I decided that wearing the Smiths Everest will save me the hassle of setting the date, something which I've been avoiding since February, and that I'll only have to deal with the DST.

Sometime I manage to amaze myself with the mental gymnastics I do in order to avoid anything looking remotely like real work.

But then I noticed the time on the dial, which was 04:30. The Smiths isn't exactly high horology, but its Miyota 9039 movement is perfectly able to keep the correct time. There is no way that it ended being one hour early after winter time.

The only logical conclusion is the one where the last time I set the time I set it one hour early by mistake and it took DST to make me realize it. That was more than a month ago IIRC.

The other possibility is that all the clocks in my house are wrong, but SmallCat has a set routine in the morning which is directed by the sun position in the sky and by cat's magic and he is currently trying to convince the stupid birds that he has very important things to tell them and that they should get closer. Nope, it's definitively 06:30.

At least that gave me some time to play with the glint of the dial. TimeFactors is a very frustrating business to deal with but they managed to get this gilt dial right. The minute track, together with the hands and text are shimmering with gold and it's a very nice visual effect.

I regularly set my watches off by 5 or 10 minutes and then find myself wondering if they’re keeping terrible time, so I feel your pain. 😆

Usually I'm not using my wristwatch to give me more than a passing idea about the time but spending more than a month without noticing that I set my watch one hour early is a new record for me.

As a rule I set my watch 2 minutes fast. I used to set them 5 minutes fast always so as to never be late for work or a meet-up with friends.

I'll set my watches to correct time give or take a minute. I just don't bother changing the date.
