A toss of the dices, and it's the Nomos again

The Nomos Ahoi is supposed to be a luxury, or entry level (whatever that mean) luxury watch. But for me it's just a nice looking watch with an almost comestible appeal.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for orange candies.

Nomos are a relatively new brand and they are investing a lot of their efforts into creating a recognizable image brand, even if sometime I think that they try a bit too hard.

What I do agree is that if a brand decide to fit a display case then it should also make the effort and ensure that there is something remarkable to look at. Here I can't fault Nomos because their movement is one of the more elegant looking and better decorated automatic that I've seen. It's just a pity that this effort is wasted on me because I seldom care about looking at movements.

What I do notice are small details, such as crown's engravings. here I must admit that Nomos did well and they managed to fit their whole brand's name on the tiny crown. It's just a little touch that show that Nomos care.

There is also the decision to call this model color "Siren Red". I know that this decade is all for DEI and that we should not contradict those who wish to identify with something they were not born with, but this is not red. This color is more orange looking than the terracotta of my espresso cup, which is definitively not red.

But these are small issues that won't stand in my way if I want to wear the Ahoi, and as Yoda once said: want the Ahoi I do.

Nice pick up 👍 if you like orange and dive watches, do you have an itch for a Doxa?

No, not really - but it's because I'm not attracted to diver's in general and not because I have anything against DOXA.

So, is it Siren Red or Siren Orange?

Nomos claim that it's red. I'm of the opinion that it's whatever color a tangerine is.

I guess OrangeRed or RedOrange, doesn't sound as interesting. It is certainly redder than the orange second hand though.

Looks like an international orange, which is red adjacent (the color of the Golden Gate Bridge) but not true red.
