I just need to wait for Marc to bring out a 38mm variant now.ย

I am just really excited that this one has the hi beat Miyota 9015 movement in it, but it is smaller than most of his dive watches, at 40.5mm.

ยท

If I hadn't just dropped $200 CAD on a solar Casioak I'd be tempted by the purple version...

I like what the Islander line has become, Marc is knocking it out of the park.

ยท

Yes, I am interested in the blue dial variant. Big surprise there! ๐Ÿ˜‚

What is surprising, and I am going to be posting on it, is I am actually selling some of my collection to help a family member out in a time of need. It is not an emergency, or I would not be doing it this way. I am trying to help out my nephew who is getting ready to buy his first home and needs to come up with the down payment. I am also trying to get myself to sell some of my collection, and I figure this is a good way to make it about family. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Of course, this means I won't be getting this new Islander until my wife and I give the money we raised to my nephew. She would probably not take it well if I got a new watch while I am in the middle of selling watches to raise money for family. ๐Ÿ˜œ

I will be posting the watches I am selling once I decide which ones will be included.

Like Candide Iโ€™m a ISL addict

i just ordered oneโ€ฆIโ€™ll let you know how it looks and wears when I get it.ย
ย

may scratch the GS minamo lake suwa itch?

ยท

I was planning to purchase ISL-155 seafoam green/white variant but it sold out by time I got off work. So I ordered the ISL-157 instead the ripple dial and selection of colors for this series of islanders are definitely eye catching.

ยท

Mark is creeping into Prospex price point territory but his offerings continue to offer better value than the competition, and now more interesting and dare I say beautiful offerings.ย
I keep staring at photos of that dial. I cannot help but feel the GS Minamo Lake Suwa vibes.ย
Serious question: can anyone think of a better dial than that at the $400 price point?ย

It is surprising to me that the seafoam green and white is the first one to be sold out. I was sure it would be the purple and black. I definitely want to see pictures when you get it! I will be getting the turquoise dial myself.

Honestly, I have a hard time thinking of any dials close to this one at this price. Some of the Cocktail Time dials come pretty close in my opinion, but beyond that, nothing at this price.ย

Good point on the cocktail times. Seiko makes amazing dials. Some of the old 7S Five dials are impressive. But the movement is obsolete. Still have a ton of fun with them.ย

i really wonder how many of each mark stocked. I couldnโ€™t believe the seafoam sold out first. I was ready to pounce on the black and blue but when I read the comments about it being purple and reexamined more closely, I realized it was my terrible color blindness playing a trick on me.ย
ย

turquoise all the way. I wish the purple was blue but it made my choice easy. I just sold my Robins Egg and was missing my turquoise. So that was my choice. I am very glad he went with conservative markers and hands. This will scratch my BB58 itch and then some. My last Miyota was +2spd. I hope This one does as well
ย

im going broke buying his offerings. they just keep getting better. I keep trying to save up for a luxury diver but why???

I was surprised too. dont Get me wrong, it looks great

i think Iโ€™d prefer the green in bottom. Is that weird? ย I think I also prefer the oyster. love the sapphire bezels tho. To each their own.ย
ย

stunning what he produces for $400. I wonder what his sales volume is. Glad he is doing well.ย

Yeah I though it would take some time before any would sellout. I'm sure the purple variant might be next to sellout. Reminds me of the ocean at dawn & got depth to it with the purple fading into that black portion. Definitely be taking pictures of the Northport on my wrist when I receive it.

I know! I just got a Bayport and now I am already saving for a Northport! And I am still considering a Southold! He's killing my wallet! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Seriously, the Northport is easily comparable to the Axios Flagship, the Hemel Sea Dart, the Phoibos Kraken, or the Nth Azores or Antilles, and is between $50 and $100 less than any of them.

His Islander hi beat dress watches are the lowest price options for a Miyota 9015 movement I have been able to find anywhere. The closest is the Phoibos Nebula, which is $40 more. Once again, Marc brings a Miyota hi beat movement watch to us for less than any of his competition without sacrificing quality or aesthetics. $400 is the lowest price I have seen for a 200M dive watch with a Miyota hi beat movement.

I actually agree with the green in the bottom. I think that would look more reminiscent of whitecaps on waves in a churned up ocean.

My thoughts exactly

Good points about the dress watch value. I loved the Robin Egg but I just got a GS Snowflake ($$$$) so I wonโ€™t wear it and wanted it to go to a good home and offset the $$$$

but then I bought the Southport In gunmetal. I loved it at first but then didnโ€™t like the blue handโ€ฆand the lume was lacking in the hands

anywayโ€ฆthe northport is the way to go ๐Ÿคž

Well, it would we are at opposite ends of the collecting spectrum, as the higher end Islanders are close to the upper end of my own collection. I tend to collect at the budget and entry level, so there are no watches over $500 in my collection. Islander is in the small point of overlap in our Venn diagram. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I also have a Bayport (I think you mixed Bayport and Southold ๐Ÿ˜‰) and do agree with your comments on the lume in the hands. It is not as strong as the lume in the indices or on the bezel. I still like my Bayport and it is one of my favorite Islanders, even with the lume issue. Its 40mm size is really perfect for me and I like the contrasting surfaces on the dial.

That is not going to keep me from getting a turquoise Northport myself. That dial is far and away the best Islander dial Marc has released, and having the Miyota 9015 movement makes this watch a true bargain and not just a good value at $399.
