Timex Dégradé Q

The Timex Q line just keeps putting out some stylish and sharp affordable quartz pieces. I think this is quite looker.

Faceted acrylic crystal...38mm...well done Timex.

It's a really cool watch and love seeing brands looking at those retro pieces!

·

Yeah, I just feel like Timex has been on a bit of roll lately with some of their retro inspired pieces. And even the occasional not retro piece like the Giorgio Galli's and North Expedition watches. Imagine if they decided to put a mechanical movement ala M79 into something like this. I think it would do well.

Of course as usual with Timex most of the time it's better to wait for a good sale and then it's an even better value.

lovely watch! But wonder did Timex get inspiration from this Casio model?

According to Timex they got inspiration from a vintage Timex from the 70s.

And I suspect Casio got inspiration from a Seiko cocktail time with that model.

Either way good looking watches.

Makes sense! Good lookin' watches all 😀 A couple of years ago, Walmart.ca was selling the Casio MTP-E120LY-2AV for around $75CDN ... shoulda picked one up when I had the chance! This model no longer seems available 😕

I quite like it, but it would be cool if they had different dial colour options.

·

I'm surprised how much of bad reactions/comments this watch got when it was unboxed on the "I like watches" channel on YouTube.

However I ordered one for myself to see if I like it but chances should be good since I generally enjoy the Q reissues and own 3 other Q's already.

·

Pricewise I think this could be one of those Q releases that are permanently excluded from discounts as it is excluded already from the 15% new customers discount and all other Christmas discounts at the moment. At least on the Timex EU website.

And Timex claims it's an online exclusive reissue, so I guess chances are low to get it much cheaper if you want a brand new one.

Nice watch. How does reading the time work on this watch with that acrylic crystal design? Is it easily legible from say arms length? For those who own it, pls let me know of 'ease of viewing and viewing angles'? Wonder if the distortion and effect make it less than or about the same, or better than? TIA!

I can't check again as I had to return the watch unfortunately. But as far as I remember the dial was legible enough, nothing unusual here. To me it provided the legibility you would expect from a retro reissue with that kind of crystal. It's not a Flieger with a large dial. But for what it is, it was legible enough for me.

Thx Alex for the reply. I like the idea of this Timex, but my aging eyes😂- looks good though.Curious, why the return on your part?

Yeah, I can definitely understand your concerns. But perhaps you could order one and have a look at it. If it's not satisfying you and you didn't wear it, there should be no problems to return it whatsoever.

I returned mine because I mistakenly thought it was defective. The date was quick setting as one would expect but the day display would not. I have never seen that date-quick-set-only in a quartz watch and thought the day wheel was broken.

The customer service wasn't able to clarify whether or not the watch had a day quick set function, so I ended up returning it.

Later I saw a video about the Q Falcon Eye and the reviewer pointed out that exact issue with the Seiko movement in the Falcon Eye. So from that point I realized the Dégradé probably uses the same movement and it's not broken, it's designed that way.
